Microneedling can do wonders sometimes

Hi ThomasJgoulda,
We've found that microneedling - which is a procedure in which a series of small needles is used to improve the scarring can really help alot.  Lasers can also be useful but we've gotten the best results with the microneedling.  It's very comfortable and effective, and not especially expensive.

Acne Scars don't go away with pills.

Acne scars don't go away with pills. Acne cars can be made better, and here you have a lot of choices. Some of these scars look pitted, now this in not a substitute for an actual consultation, but one possibility would be punch grafting. This is where the scars are replaced with small micro grafts of skin. Another step for helping the unevenness if the skin would be Infinitm which uses intense focused RF energy delivered through micro needles. This is a newer treatment with seemingly less risk of increased pigmentation than other laser treatments such as Fraxelitm or ablative CO2 resurfacing such as DOTitm. You really need to begin to learn about your choices with an experienced Dermatologist or Plastic Surgeon.

Acne Scars | Topical Treatment Options

Thank you for your question about treatment options for your acne scars.

Topical treatments with retinoids is very beneficial for complexion and discoloration on the skin.  However, topical treatment nor oral treatment will help with the surface of the skin.  Further treatment options would be the following:

  • Microneedling
  • Fractional vs C02 laser
  • Excision
  • Bellafill

To be sure, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment.

I hope this helps.
