I really would like to get a tummy tuck I. The near future or do anything else meanwhile to tighten loose postpartum skin but I’m dreading the long scar and wanted to know if it’s possible to get a tummy tuck w a shorter incision?
Answer: Mini tummy tuck vs full tummy tuck You have stretch marks that extend from the pubic area all the way to the umbilicus and then above. A mini tummy tuck will improve the skin below the umbilicus but you will still have stretch marks remaining above the umbilicus. You would benefit most from a full tummy tuck. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Will I have to have a long scar if I choose to get a tummy tuck? Plastic surgery is always a trade-off of potentially bad aspects of an outcome with benefits of the outcome. Abdominoplasty goes along with a scar. Knowing that scars are a significant disadvantage, they should generally be designed for visual obscurity: As short as possible, positioned low to be hidden behind small bottoms, and high quality fine linear character that aligns with natural curves of the body so the scar essentially disappears over time. Our approach is to modify abdominoplasty individually for each woman's body to accomplish her goals with minimum disadvantage. There is no suitable non-surgical way I'm aware of to really tighten and restore your abdominal wall and skin besides a well planned and executed abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).

Answer: Scar Hi, thank you for sharing your question. There are many ways to do a tummy tuck and the answer to your question will depend on how much skin you want removed, how flat you want the abdomen and where you want the scars to be located. A standard TT will result in a long scar.

Answer: Tummy tuck scar A traditional abdominoplasty scar will run from hip to hip and involve a scar around the belly button. A short scar abdominoplasty or "mini" will involve a lower scar burden but is reserved for a particular group of patients: -Minimal skin laxity -Skin laxity limited to the area below the belly button -No muscle laxity While this is an option, most patients will not be great candidates for one or more reasons. Based on your photos, you skin excess extends above the belly button which would make you a better candidate for traditional abdominoplasty. As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

Answer: Avoid a longer scar Scar length will be irrelevant if it is placed properly. Don’t compromise your result by over thinking this. Your results should be a huge improvement.
