Dealing with Acne and Rosacea. How do I treat both?

I have rosacea and acne. My Rosacea is mostly on my cheeks and on the bottom half of my forehead. I can't use anything harsh on my rosacea skin (can't use finacea) or I get huge rosacea bumps. My Rosacea is usually in check when I take Oracea and Use Metrogel, however I still get normal acne. How do I treat acne without upsetting the Rosacea ? Also i'm a 33 year old male, will this ever go away ?

Rosacea and Acne treatments

Thank you for your question. I'm sorry to hear about your struggles with both rosacea and acne. There are alternative topical antibiotics that work well with both conditions but tolerance may be an issue. Unfortunately, acne and rosacea are chronic conditions. No cure exists, so having flares or breakouts periodically is normal. With rosacea, flares are most commonly caused by certain triggers such as caffeine, alcohol, sun exposure, certain foods, increase in body temperature, etc. I highly recommend you consult with a board certified dermatologist regarding your skin and to discuss treatment options that best suit your needs. Take care and good luck.
