Dr. told me I needed to have bunion surgery on both feet a few years ago, I have been putting it off. Am in too much pain to put it off any longer. Could I have breast augmentation, and tummy tuck at the same time as I have one the foot surgeries? Or one of the elective surgeries with each foot surgery? Thank you.
Answer: Mommy makeover is the same time as bunion surgery. I personally have not participated in this combination of procedures but I don't see why they could not be done concurrently. You will be miserable for a few days.Your surgeon's should confer so that your responsibilities after surgery for one set of operations doesn't interfere with the responsibilities of the other.

Answer: Bunion surgery & Mommy Makeover Honestly, I've never encountered this situation, but I don't think it would be an issue. I would advise you to schedule a conversation between your podiatrist and your plastic surgeon. You'll be basically incapacitated afterwards so you will have to have someone taking care of you. Best, Dr. Nazarian

Answer: Risky You don't want to have foot pain, balance problems and the reduced ambulation that comes with bunion surgery while you are trying to recover from a Mommy Makeover. If you are too sedentary after big surgery, the risk of blood clots goes up. If the pain is a big problem, get the feet done first.

Answer: Plastic surgery and bunion surgery You may need a cane or crutches while recovering from you bunionectomy which may be difficult to manage after a breast augmentation and tummy tuck. Most breast implants are placed under the pectoral muscle (submuscular) which can interfere with crutches. Ask your podiatrist about the details of your recovery and then speak with your plastic surgeon about a possible combination procedure.Best wishes,Dr.Bruno

Answer: Breast augmentation, tummy tuck same time as bunion surgery? Thank you for the question. Generally speaking, combination surgical procedures are done routinely. However, you are wise in being concerned about the safety of combination surgery; risks/possible complications do increase with increased length of surgery… In your case, I would be concerned that the bunion surgery may prevent you from ambulating sufficiently (this will be an important part of your recovery after "mommy makeover" surgery). In other words, I would likely recommend that you do not combine the podiatry and the plastic surgical procedures. Generally speaking, it is best to evaluate each patient's suitability for combination surgery on an individualized basis. During this consultation process, after a complete history and physical, the SAFETY of combining these surgical procedures becomes of paramount importance. Plastic surgeon, anesthesia provider, duration of surgery, surgery facility all important considerations. Your best bet: choose your plastic surgeon very carefully; everything else including good judgment/advice/planning, anesthesia provider and safe surgery facility will follow. I hope this, and the attached link (dedicated to mommy makeover surgery concerns), helps. Best wishes.
