Is cartilage rhinoplasty suitable with a dorsal hump?

Hi, in certain cases augmentation rhinoplasty is preformed for selected cases. It is better for you to consult with a facial plastic surgeon who can examine you and discuss the surgical procedure and the post op recovery
process.

Usually the hump needs to be shaved down in order to access the cartilage vault. I would go see a board-certified plastic surgeon (with plastic surgery residency and aesthetic fellowship training) for a 3D preoperative consultation. This way the rhinoplasty can be simulated prior to the surgery to provide the patient a proper visual of the potential outcome.

The nasal bridge can be built up with cartilage but this is much more complicated than lowering a hump on the bridge

The most common way of treating a dorsal hump is to shave down, bone and or cartilage, depending on what part of the nose needs correcting.
Augmenting surrounding areas makes less sense, but it depends on what to go is for the outcome of the procedure.
I suggest having a few in person consultations with Plastic surgeons who have extensive rhinoplasty experience. It’s far easier to remove to add when it comes to this procedure. Keep things on the simple side to minimize the chance of revision surgery or dissatisfaction with the outcome.
