What is the method or science behind it

Benzoyl Peroxide & Acne

Thank you for your question!! Benzoyl peroxide performs three main actions on the skin to inhibit acne formation. First it acts as an anti-bacterial agent reducing the amount of Propionibacterium acne (p.acnes) which is a bacteria that causes the proliferation of acne lesions. Second it serves as an anti-inflammatory agent reducing the amount of redness and discomfort of deep acne lesions. Third it infuses oxygen into the pore, loosening acne causing debris. Benzoyl perozide will not fade acne scars nor will it reduce the pitted acne scarring. Using a Retinol at night will help to refine texture as well as in clinic treatments such as Micro-needling & Chemical Peels. Hope this helps.
