What is the best medical skin treatment for an acne scar from a cyst. (photo)

Acne Scars Do Best When Treatments Are Tailored To Their Individual Needs

Unfortunately, there is no history that accompanies the photo. It would be helpful, for example, to know how recent the cyst was.

From the photo, the lesion appears relatively young, and it seems that the walls of the cyst are somewhat hypertrophic (proud flesh). If this is indeed so, then a small amount of antiinflammatory, such as triamcinolone, injected into the elevated, upwardly protruding area of the wound would help to hasten its flattening and healing.Afterward, watchful waiting, i.e. "a tincture of time" might subsequently allow not only for the flattening of the wound, but its contraction.

Should a central pit mark remain, The TCA CROSS Technique, using either full strength TCA or phenol, may then be used.

Finally, should it prove necessary, the surface tone and texture of the final scar may be improved with a very localized form of microneedling with an instrument known as a Dermastamp.

For more information on any of the above, check out the archives of RealSelf.com, and be certain to consult with a board certified aesthetic physician before proceeding.

Best of luck to you.
