I have bruises from trying to reach some black heads; should I start using benzoyl peroxide? (Photo)

I agree with Dr Baxt. Do not pick at the blackheads, as that is what causes scarring and bruising. Over the counter options are available like benzoyl peroxide, salicyclic or lactic acid and even now differin. If these do not help them you will need prescription medications and possibly lasers. Best of luck to you
The worst thing to do for blackheads is pick them that creates marks and doesn't solve the underlying problem of clogged pores. The best over-the-counter treatments for blackheads are benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, differin, and glycolic acid. If those washes and gels are not working either a good facial or a visit to a board certified dermatologist for prescription strength treatments like retin a or a chemical peel.
