Loose skin following chin lipo - Would a facelift or neck lift address this better? (Photos)

Question

I previously had liposuction of the chin which left a lot of loose skin. Im not overweight, just had the double chin genes. Tried everyrhing from threadlift, morpheus8, facetite etc and nothing works for more than a few months if at all. I wouldve thought a neck lift would be what i am after but the surgeon i saw recommended mini face lift (without neck lift), saying its thw only thing that will work. I feel like that is overkill maybe and or wont adress the neck properly?

This is a tough situation. A full neck and lower facelift should flatten this out. Anything less you have tried already. There is one radical idea. If for some reason you absolutely do not want a face/neck lift then direct excision of skin in a horizontal direction will remove it. The scar is long but heals well, procedures is easier and quicker. You have some tough decisions to make. I wish you the best.

If the neck is your major concern, then a neck lift is definitely the best option to address this. A mini facelift would not address the neck at all, but would be focused primarily on your jowls and mid face. If the jowls also bother you, a full face and neck lift would be warranted. I highly recommend you see a board certified plastic surgeon in consultation to be fully evaluated / examined and have a discussion about the best options for you.

I am a board-certified Plastic Surgeon with special training in face and neck surgery. The procedure that will give you the best results is a Facelift with a Necklift to tighten the neck muscles and remove excess skin. I'm not particularly in favor of mini facelifts.

Based on your history of liposuction under the chin and persistent skin laxity, I would recommend a neck lift with a preauricular incision extended to the postauricular area. This technique can significantly improve the sagging skin under the chin and along the neck.
If you also have concerns about jowling and midface sagging, then a full facelift may be more appropriate. This would involve an incision starting from the temporal area and extending behind the ear, allowing for more comprehensive lifting of the lower face and neck.
A mini facelift alone may not adequately address the loose skin under the chin or along the neck, especially in cases like yours where previous treatments haven’t been effective.
