KJ, Yes, Tri-Luma can be very effective at lightening the skin. The active ingredient in Tri-Luma which helps lighten the skin is Hydroquinone. This works by inhibiting production of melanin. The other ingredients in Tri-Luma include Retin-A and Steroids. All three ingredients can be purchased separately, Tri-Luma just makes it more convenient to have in one cream. Tri-Luma is a prescription cream that consists of three active products: retin A, commonly used by itself or in other combinations to help revitalize the skin, hydroquinone, a "bleaching" cream that can lighten the skin by effecting the melanocyte (pigment) cells, and a mild corticosteroid to help with inflammation.
