What is a Modified/Simple Mastectomy?

Thank you for your question.
Simple mastectomy can be skin sparing or nipple sparing mastectomy where the breast tissue is removed with or without the nipple.
Modified radical mastectomy is a skin sparing mastectomy plus removal of majority of axilary nodes on that side.  The removal of the nodes depend on the biopsy results of the sentinel node biopsy.  Hope this helps and  Best of luck.

Modified or simple mastectomy

A modified radical mastectomy usually entails removing some skin and the nipple areola complex, along with the lymph nodes, and the breast gland. A simple mastectomy usually entails just removal of the gland +/- nipple/areola complex.
