Forehead wrinkles - what else can help, besides Botox? (Photo)

What else besides botox can help my wrinkles

Forehead Wrinkles

A neuromodulator, such as Botox, would be my first approach as these are lines of expression. For any residual lines one could consider a superficial filler, such as Belotero, or laser resurfacing.

Forehead wrinkles - what else can help, besides Botox?

In cases of deep forehead lines, a filler such as Restylane®, along with a little Botox Cosmetic® to preserve the filler's longevity, is the best combination treatment.

Forehead Wrinkles: What Can Be Done Besides Botox?

When it comes to wrinkles, there are “dynamic lines,” meaning wrinkles that can be seen at expression (frowning, raising the brow), as well as “static lines,” wrinkles that are apparent even when facial muscles are relaxed. Toxins like Botox temporarily relax the injected muscle, preventing full expression and the appearance of “dynamic lines.” Botox can even help soften “static lines,” however if the wrinkles are fairly deep, Botox alone will likely not provide significant improvement, and injecting filler will also be necessary.

Filler can be injected directly into each wrinkle in the forehead to provide a smooth, even appearance. Injecting filler without Botox can provide improvement, however because you will still be able to move the muscles in your forehead, the filler is very likely to wear off much sooner than usual (the average filler lasts anywhere from 6-9 months). Because Botox is preventing you from full expression, it also helps to avoid further deepening of the wrinkles if treated on a consistent basis.

In my opinion, the ideal treatment route would be to inject both Botox and filler, however if you are unsure about toxins, discuss your concerns in full with a board certified Dermatologist. Best of luck!

In addition to Botox, I most commonly use Belotero dermal filler for immediate short term improvement of forehead wrinkles.
