I asked a question few wks ago about being pregnant & maybe having a fractured nose. Went to an ENT & my nose is fractured & my septum has scar tissue that's already curving. I can't get it fixed til the baby's born, but the Dr doesn't think I should worry about fixing the fracture, she just wants to fix my septum. I want both fixed, bc I have a small dent in my upper left side of my nose. What would I need done in order to fix both problems?
A fractured nose and septum can be fixed at the same time. Performing a septoplasty and rhinoplasty at the same time is done frequently, and I recommend seeing a board certified plastic surgeon. It can be difficult to get insurance to cover a rhinoplasty done for reconstructive purposes--good luck.
Best,
I need a Septoplasty due to a broken nose. I am considering getting a Rhinoplasty at the same time too. I have a HUGE fear of being "put under". I'm also emetophobic as well and general anesthesia frightens me since I've had past surgeries and thrown up for about 2 days after. Can I get this done with local anesthesia? I really hope so because I don't think I will ever get this fixed if anyone won't do it that way.
I read your concerns. I don't think it's feasible to perform Rhinoplasty Surgery with just local anesthetic. You can experience nausea even if you receive Intra-venous sedation, and no general anesthetic.
I have a crooked nose. Will Septoplasty fix it or will I need Rhinoplasty as well? Are there any closed options available? Looking at my picture, if I get Septoplasty, should I get Rhinoplasty anyway to make my nose smaller?
If you're happy with the appearance of your nose, then you don't need a Rhinoplasty. If you'd like your nose straighter, and smaller, then Rhinoplasty would be suitable.
If you have chronic nasal blockage on one side only, then your septum is probably deviated towards the side of the blockage. Repairing that alone would not likely change the external appearance, but could improve your breathing.
I hope this helps, and best regards.
