I Have Uneven Eyebrows, Will Botox Fix This? (photo)

I have uneven eyebrows, although when I smile, they even out. (Why is that??) I had to have stitches above my right eyebrow when I was younger and ever since, I have had nerve pain and numbness in that area. You can see the indent and scar tissue above/to the edge of my eyebrow. I'm wondering if this is why my eyebrows are uneven or is it my left eyebrow that is too low? What could I get done to fix this? Thankyou.

A: Botox for Uneven Eyebrows

Yours is an interesting problem, and thanks for including the photos.  I'll bet you get some different opinions from the experts on this forum, and there likely is not one single correct answer.

Numbness and nerve pain indicates that you probably sustained an injury to the supraorbital sensory nerve on that side.  You may also have some minor facial motor nerve damage,or the scarring may be releasing the downward pull of the orbicularis muscle on your right side, making the lateral brow higher.  Botox injected into the lateral brow area on the opposite (left) side will give a slight elevation and likely will get the height more symmetric at rest.  In addition, the scar on the right, which appears to be depressed in the photo, might be able to be made less conspicuous by injection of a hyaluronic filler, such as Restylane or Juvederm.

There is also slight asymmetry of your upper eyelids, making your right eye look a little smaller when you smile.  This is not amenable to correction with Botox, but there are other options (which are beyond the scope of this discussion).

How Long Does Botox Take to Work?

I am 24. My frown lines are very deep especially for my age. I had botox twice. I am not able to frown, however, I have not seen a difference in my frown lines. My dermatologist did not want to give me more than 20 units. Do I just need more Botox or another treatment? I have had the lines Since I was 22.

A: Botox works in 4 to 7 days.

If you are not able to frown, this means the Botox which you were treated with is working just like it should, that is, it has temporarily paralysed the muscles it was injected into.  If you still have frown lines this indicates you may required some filler (Restylane, Perlane or Juvaderm) to add volume to these areas.  Your static frown lines, those present even when you are not frowning, may get better with continued use of Botox, but this may required several treatments.

Botox Cosmetic- How Does It Work on Wrinkles?

Really want to get rid of lines on the forehead and heard that botox cosmetic is recommended by doctors. why?

A: How Botox works.

In spite of some of the advertising hype, Botox and its alternative, Dysport, only do one thing: they give a flaccid, temporary paralysis to the muscles they are injected into.  If the lines on your forehead are caused by the flexing action of the muscles, Botox will stop this flexing.  How much improvement in the forehead lines you get depends; here is why.  If your forehead skin is smooth when you are not raising your eyebrows, but has lines when you do raise your eyebrows, the Botox will paralysis  the muscles and your forehead will be smooth.  If, however, you have lines in your forehead when you are NOT raising your eyebrows and they are worse when you raise your eyebrows, the lines will get better but not disappear with the Botox.  Be sure your doctor checks your eyebrow position before treating you, as a Botoxed brow can cause some people to feel that their brow sits too low.
