I had fraxel laser under my eyes about two months ago The first time I was exposed to the sun for a few minutes I ended up looking like a racoon. I used hydroquinone 4% cream which did little to improve it I followed up with a few IPL (I think) laser treatments which lightened it a little. I have just returned from Florida where I spend a few days with 45 sunscreen on my face at all times and once again I look like a racoon. Will I ever be able to lead a 'normal life" again and walk outside?
Your skin is extremely vulnerable to sun damage, especially after Fraxel or any skin resurfacing treatment. It is imperative that you use sunscreen every day (reaplying often) and wear a wide brimmed hat and sunglasses to help lower the risk of hyper pigmentation.
I am planning on getting a midface-lift and liposuction on my neck area, but I also have some minor acne scars and skin-imperfections that I'd like to fix with the fraxel laser (that I've actually already booked an appointment for). Is it wiser to go with the resurfacing laser first and then perform the two other surgeries, or do the opposite? AND for how long would I have to wait between the two? Thanks!
All these can be done together assuming your surgeon has a Fraxel. The midface lift is done deep, so it will not interfere with the skin treatment. My personal approach to a midface lift is intraoral, subperiosteal and the suspension is secured to the temporalis muscle fascia via a small incision in the hair bearing scalp. If this is the approach your surgeon is using than it is safe to do both procedures. Good luck.
I have been to a couple of plastic surgeons. One says to get facelift, another says to get Fraxel. Can I have the Fraxel done first and then do the facelift in the same year? I also just had Thermage done 1 month ago, with no results. Will this affect any of these procedures?
It is perfectly acceptable to perform either the facelift or the Fraxel first; it does not really matter. The Fraxel is performed for smoothing out the skin color and tone and getting rid of age spots. The facelift is done to tighten up the deep structures such as tightening of the neck muscles, eliminating jowls, removing fat in the neck both above and below the platysma, and tightening the gristle layer underneath the facial structure called the SMAS. Thermage will do none of the above.
