How Long Does Sculptra Take to Work?
Sculptra is an excellent procedure becuase it gradually replaces lost collagen over a series of injections, giving your face a more youthful apperance. On average, three injection sessions are needed over three months. After the injections, the results can continue to improve over the next few months. The end result of the Sculptra injections can last for years with an occasional touch up procedure needed. To find out how many injections you may need, you should see an experienced injector because the number of sessions can vary from person to person.
1. Why do some doctors say that the effect of sculptra can last 5 years without top-up, while other say it lasts 2-3 years and needs annual or bi-annual top-ups? 2. Why would collagen from sculptra go down any quicker than your other collagen? If all your collagen goes down together then aren't you retaining the shape of the face 'sculpted' by your doctor - whether you like it or not? Thank you.
The difference in opinion among doctors on the longevity of Sculptra is based on their own experiences. The difference is also because all faces are different. Some lose collagen faster than other. A typical example would be runners. Also, in my experience I have found that increased life stress effects the longevity of Sculptra. Healthy living and younger age will make Sculptra last longer.
Once the Sculptra (or the collagen generated by Sculptra) goes away, the face will start the aging process backwards. However it is not possible to predict if it will continue to have the same look or different.

How gradual will the growth of collagen be after sculptra? When will the effect be at its peak?
Sculptra is not an overnight miracle, but it can give great results over time. Sculptra works gradually to replace collagen that is lost during the aging process, and over a series of treatments during a few months, the result can last up to two years. The number of injections per session can vary from person to person but it averages three. Usually the peak effect is at about six months. After your initial session, you may need a touch up every couple of years, but you shouldn't need the same amount as in the beginning. Be sure you find a physician experienced in injecting Sculptra.
