I was wondering how soon after a rhinoplasty surgery, turbinate reduction, and septoplasty surgery can one have jaw implants and chin implant surgery. I would like to do the jaw and chin implant surgery together to have a more masculine jawline and a well define chin. I am a male in my mid twenties.
Not quite sure why you are separating these surgeries. We frequently perform rhinoplasty at the same time as chin implant surgery. That way you have one recovery period.
I had a chin implant 2 years ago and it is not fitted properly in the pocket. I've started to notice it in pictures and if it hits the light in a certain way. I went to my doctor and he told me to push on the implant, and that the pocket will stretch and the implant will move into the right position. Does this sound right? Or does it need to be fixed with surgery?
Occasionally, chin implants do not seat correctly on the anterior jawbone. This abnormality can become more obvious over time, as the swelling slowly subsides. Usually the tissue surrounding the implant either grows into the implant or forms a capsule around it (depending of the implant material). The implant could be dislodged with severe trauma or impact, but I think unlikely to move just with manual pressure. I would consider having it re-positioned.
I had a receding chin and had a chin implant six weeks ago. My profile looks great but when i look in the mirror it doesn't look right. The chin implant has altered my face. It looks like I have a bump and my cheeks are sticking out. Was I not a candidate for a chin implant? Shouldn't my doctor have known this? I've learned that if you are not a candidate placing an implant can cause problems with bone erosion and dental problems. What should I do? How will I know if I am a candidate?
On the photo you sent, it does appear you have a small chin and you are indeed a candidate for a chin implant. If your procedure was 6 weeks ago, your unusual lumps may just be swelling. It is best to consult with your surgeon about this. I usually feel that if the implant is palpable, it is not placed correctly. If you cannot feel the implant, it should heal well and the bumps resolve.
