Neck Lift Needed for Loose Skin?

I am 39 years old--almost 40. I do not sag in the neck but when I turn my neck to a certain way, I do not like the appearance. It is not quite sagging but it is very loose and unattractive. Do I need a neck lift yet or what would work without surgery?

A: Neck lift for loose skin...

A neck lift is an excellent procedure that can help correct and enhance the neck, which improves loose saggy skin, and gives a more natural look.  Unfortunately, anyone who turns their neck in certain directions or turns the chin in may show some loose skin.  If your neckline in the normal position looks good, then you probably won't benefit from surgery.  There is no ideal age for neck surgery, and candidates may range from people in their 20's to the elderly as long as you are a good candidate.  To see if you are qualified for this surgery, you should be sure to speak with a board certified facial plastic or plastic surgeon.

What's the Best Solution for my Neck?

I plan on having a chin augmentation done in conjunction with a neck lift. I have gone to 4 different plastic surgeons for consuls and each gave a different diagnosis for how to address the neck lift. Their recommendations ranged from just using liposuction to using liposuction in conjunction with removing excess skin and altering neck muscles. How should I go about determining which physician’s recommendation is the best way to go for my situation?

A: Neck best solution

You did not state your age and you did not provide photographs. Therefore, it is
very difficult to adequately answer your question in a satisfactory manner to determine
what technique would be best suited for you. However, you did learn a lesson. There
are many ways to skin a cat! Each surgeon will offer recommendations and perform
procedures based on his or her experience and results. There is no “standard” way to
perform almost any plastic surgical procedure. There are many superb artists who will
paint excellent paintings but they will paint them in a different manner. In choosing
the surgeon for you, it would be prudent for you to evaluate several factors: credentials,
experience, aesthetic sense, recommendations from other patients, history of good results.
Also, it is most important for you to use your best judgment as to what makes the most sense to you and for you to get a good feeling about the integrity and skill of the surgeon. By all means, don’t use pure simplicity or costs as the important criteria for what to do.

How Long Does a Neck Lift Last?

Hello. I'm 46 years old and although I have a youthful face, my neck gives away my age. It seemed to happen all of a sudden.

I really hate my neck, but I don't have the funds necessary to pay for a Neck lift and all that that involves without some type of financing. So, two questions: How long would a typical Neck lift last before having to get touch-ups, and what payment options are available? Thank you.

A: Neck Lift

Surgery notwithstanding, the aging process continues. Everybody ages differently. How long a neck lift, facelift or face/neck will last is determined by several factors including how you age (genetics, inheritance), environmental factors (smoking, sun exposure), health status (development of illness with associated weight loss ), the techniques employed to perform a good surgical results with longevity. It is not that the neck procedure will “last”a specified period of time.

Rather, the question should be, how long will it be before another procedure is needed or desired? I have patients who have requested touch-up procedures within 3 to 5 years. On the other hand, I have patients who still look great after 12 to 15 years.

As far as costs are concerned, I recommend saving, putting money aside for the pleasure you will derive from having a good surgical procedure performed. I do not recommend skimping on the surgery by going to a “cheap” surgeon who will not give you the results you desire. Most surgeons today offer financing options to their patients.
