Nostil Flaring After Rhinoplasty

Hello I had septorhinoplasty 10 days ago. I can't seem to help but flare my nostrils. I also sometimes wake from sleep wrinkling my nose. I know smiling and eating is fine. But will flaring and wrinkling your nose, cause any damage in shifting cartilage or bone?! Thanks for any help

A: Nostril flaring after rhinoplasty

Depending on the rhinoplasty performed, it is more likely that the small muscles at the base of the nose are temporarily paralyzed causing an inability to "flare" the nostrils. Again depending on the rhinoplasty performed, it is very likely that the nasal tip if contoured will lose some projection causing the base of the nose to settle creating nostril flaring. This especially true if the nose was reduced in size. If this is the case, the nostrils will change very little after 10 days and if the flaring is a cosmetic problem, a simple office procedure to narrow the nostrils is indicated.

Wide Alae After Graft?

Hello, I had rhinoplasty a couple of days ago. My doctor said I needed a graft at my alar side wall, because I had a pinched look and he wanted me to have a more triangular base. I know I'm just two days post op ( I have removed the nasal pack though)- but my alae look wayyy wider and wayyy thicker, almost like someone stuck markers up my nostrils:S Does this kind of graft widden the alae? Judging by the pictures below, did I even need this procedure?

A: Rhinoplasty

You are still very swollen, you have to be patient. If you removed a dressing your doctor put on, you should see him/her and make sure it is OK to leave off.  The healing/ recovery process is so important to your final result.

Uneven Height of Nostrils

hi, i had a rhinoplasty 20 days ago and im really worried about the result of it because the nostrils is not even, the left side is higher then the other, i ask my doctor about this and his answers to me is not clear. is there any posibilities that it will be even? i really appreciate if you can help me on this matter...or is there anyway i can correct it??

A: Rhinoplasty

Wound healing is a very complex process it can take a year for a wound to heal, the nose is small, and small amounts of swelling show.  Be patient.  Way too soon to judge your result
