Excellent. His entire office staff were incredible to work with. Every time I called (& I called a lot for various questions) they always let me speak with a nurse or medical person immediately. If I ever have another surgery I would definitely choose him again. I totally trust him. I also appreciated having an anesthesiologist in my surgery and staying in the hospital Overnight vs. doing it outpatient.
Currently 3 months post op & So happy with my results! I kinda wish I would have gone bigger bc it's not very noticeable when i'm wearing clothes but overall they look so good!! My scars are still red but seem to be getting lighter! Updated on 2 Dec 2024: I am about 1 year post and absolutely in love with my boobs!! It took several months for them drop and fluff and to get feeling back below the nipple line but so so worth it! One scar had some issues healing so it's still got some healing to go but OMG the before and after is so crazy!
I can't say enough good things about my experience with Dr. Beckenstein! He was very thorough with my consultation - listened to my concerns and addressed all of them. The day of surgery went perfectly and I went in as 34G and left a 34DD. He made sure everything looked proportionate with my body type and I am so happy he did!!
Dr. Beckenstein and his entire staff are miracle workers! 2 1/2 weeks before a scheduled abdominal hysterectomy, the thought came to me: why am I not having an abdominoplasty at the same time? I filled out the consult request form, and Dr. Beckenstein replied within hours... he told me later he was at the Iron Bowl when he got my request! Monday, his staff fit me in when it was discovered that Dr. Beckenstein was available and my pre-scheduled surgical time also worked for him! His staff went above and beyond to help manage this financially for me as well. I’m now 12 days post surgery, and I can not believe the changes in my body. I feel better every day and am so grateful to Dr. Beckenstein and his wonderful team for making my Christmas miracle happen!
I couldn’t be more pleased with the way my breast reduction turned out! Dr Beckenstein and his staff were amazing. They answered all my question and concerns from start to finish with the utmost professionalism. I was afraid of how large my scars would be but they look great! Very minimal scars. I would choose for this to be my dr over and over again. As a matter of fact, I was so pleased that I did in fact choose him to preform my next surgery (tummy tuck) in just a few weeks. Excited is an understatement! I know the outcome will be just a great as my last procedure. ;) If you are looking for a wonderful surgeon with an awesome team to take care of you..,look no further. Dr B is it!
Dr Beckenstein preformed a tummy tuck and left breast fat transfer on me and I have never felt better in my life. I look good and have confidence again that I haven't had since I was in my teens and early 20's. He and his staff were so kind and caring. They answered all my questions helped me to feel comfortable about everything that was going to take place. I never had to worry about anything. They even provided me with post surgery scar care instructions and medicine. They were with me to entire journey. I just went for my 2 month check up and everything is looking great better than I even imagined. If you're thinking about getting something done don't do anything until you've seen Dr Beckenstein he's the absolute best there is!! Don't let anyone touch you until you see Dr B.
AWESOME work!!! Referred several friends who had the same procedure done after wearing heavy earrings for years!!! Those darn '80's... I've bought so many clip on earrings over the years, I still wear both. After 5 years of no piercing, I treated myself to the mall and purchased REAL diamond studs!!! The surgery was a few pinches from the stitches being put in and out for post exam. I'm happy with my new pierced ear lobe and give kudos to a wonderful doctor and staff! THANKS DR. BECKENSTEIN!!!
On October 4th, 2017 I had a joint surgery (hysterectomy + abdominoplasty) performed by Dr. John Edwards and Dr. Beckenstein. First of all, I'm not a local to the Birmingham area. I had no referrals from friends or family when it came to selecting a plastic surgeon. Actually, I found out about Dr. Beckenstein in a very roundabout way and I'm beyond thankful that I did! I did thorough research and followed my heart and my gut when it came to selecting him as my doctor. I consistently found that when reading reviews about Dr. B that he was often referred to as being "compassionate" and a "perfectionist". After my own experience, I would have to agree and couldn't think of any better traits for a plastic surgeon to posses. When I viewed his online portfolio I noticed all of his work was of the highest quality. I got very excited after viewing his gallery and immediately decided that if I even halfway liked him after meeting in person that he'd be the doctor for me! I first met Dr. B on December 6, 2016, and he was everything that I thought he would be. He listened to my concerns and offered suggestions and the rest was history. I didn't feel the need to visit another plastic surgeon for a second opinion. I wholeheartedly wanted Dr. Beckenstein to do my abdominoplasty! I'm not sure that I was your normal abdominoplasty candidate. Let's just say motherhood was very unkind to me and my stomach issues were pretty "excessive". Upfront Dr. B was real and told me what I could expect from surgery. It wasn't going to be "perfect" because of what all he had to work with but he always promised to do as best as he possibly could. I was okay with this. I knew I had a lot working against me and couldn't expect perfection. I just wanted to be able to wear jeans without tucking my stomach in my pants! However, I woke up to what I consider near perfection!!! Everything that was at one time a concern (a bulge of fat under my breasts and one of my hips stored excess fat) was all corrected! I couldn't believe it!! I even had some large skin tags under my breasts and I noticed when I got home that those were removed too! I know that isn't a huge deal but they were an eyesore to me and I'm so thankful he took the time to remove those as well! It was a nice surprise to find them gone! Dr. Beckenstein visited with me the afternoon of my surgery and was excited to tell me that "he was able to get in there and do a lot more for me than he originally thought possible". (Ahh! Dreams really do come true!!!) He was smiling ear to ear (this all goes back to the man being a perfectionist) because he was so pleased with the results and I could tell then just exactly how much pride he takes in his work. I hope that it's a testament to the readers of this review that of all the plastic surgeons in the Birmingham area, I researched and wholeheartedly chose Dr. Beckenstein. If I could do it again, I'd chose him all over again. Matter of fact, in the future he'll be doing my breast reduction. Was it worth the money? Yes! Was it worth every ounce of discomfort? Yes! Would I recommend Dr. Beckenstein to friends and family? Absolutely!! 110% I hope that my Before and After photos speak volumes about the talent and skill possessed by Dr. Beckenstein. It's been a month since my procedure and I still find my mind blown that he was able to restore my body in the way that he did. I look at my Before photo and I think "How is this possible?? How did he fix this?!?" Simply put: he is amazing!!! Dr. Beckenstein, thank you for your dedication to your craft. You have changed my life for the better! I finally feel like my old self again and that's one of the the best feelings in the world. From the bottom of my heart - thank you!!
I have been a patient of Dr. Michael Beckenstein for over nine years. I think he is the best doctor because he is the most caring, most knowledgeable, best bedside manner and most professional. He did such an amazing job on my breast reconstruction and tummy tuck that my husband and I like the way I look now better than before my cancer and chemo. I fell about a year later and crushed my L1 lumbar. after seeing three doctors and not being satisfied with their course of action I turned to Dr. Beckenstein for a referral. He put me in touch with a wonderful doctor who with God's help had me up walking after surgery when medically I should have been paralyzed. Dr. Beckenstein had made sure that a room was ready at the hospital when I arrived and that my surgeon could operate as soon as possible. Dr. Beckenstein even took time out from his busy schedule to drive across town to check on me before surgery. For these and many more reasons I think that Dr. Beckenstein is one of the most wonderful doctors ever.
I was a 32A before my surgery and had always wanted to have breast augmentation surgery. After meeting with Dr. Beckenstein I felt very confident that he would give me the best results. We decided to go for the look of a Full C cup, and I'm two weeks post surgery now. I felt little pain as I took my pain killers as they were needed and only took them for a few days. Wearing sports bras for the next two weeks until my next follow up and then I'll be able to get sized! Looks like I'll be a 34 C and I am so so thankful!
You have a lot of excess skin that should have been adjusted at the time of the mastectomy. The expanded width and projection is not enough to stretch out the skin. Over filling the expander will not help as the device will become narrower. At the second stage a wider more projecting implant can be used along with a mastopexy to remove any lose skin. This should be only around the areolae which are too wide. This is readily fixable!
it is still early in your post operative course and you should wait almost a year to allow all tissues to heal and the " final " result determined. At that time you and your surgeon can evaluate and discuss options. Removing residual breast tissue, excess skin is relatively east. The nipple positions should be more appropriate after that. Minor adjustments may be suggested.
Everything looks good! Your surgeon did a nice job! There are no signs of infection. It is too early for nerve regeneration so you might be experiencing sensation from the surrounding skin.
without photos, it is difficult to make recommendations. The history of two surgeries with lifts, and now suggesting removing implants is concerning. I believe another opinion with a surgeon well experienced in revision all breast surely is warranted. A change in implant location is a possible option instead of removal.
There are many causes of sporadic hairloss and a scalp biopsy is the only way to find the cause and treatment options. Find a doctor who can do this ; hair restoration practice or dermatologist.
