I had a great consultation with Dr. Adams recently. All of my concerns were addressed nearly without my having to ask the questions. I have no doubt he would be a good fit for me should I decide to have the surgery.
I came to Dr. Adams after having unsatisfactory work from a provider at another office. I was hesitant to trust someone to fix what had been done, but Dr. Adams was kind, patient and worked with me over several visits to reverse and then correct the problem. I am so happy with the result. He is incredibly skilled and his office staff is top tier. From the front desk staff, to his nurses, MA's, photographers and fellows, they all treated me with kindness and made me feel heard. I cannot recommend this practice enough and I wish that I had come to him first. This is a physician who cares about his patients, not about the finances.
I'm a 27 year old woman that got a rhinoplasty in November 2024 with Dr. Adams at Rousso Adams in Birmingham. I am not from Birmingham and had to drive in about 2 hours from a neighboring state, and I loved my experience with this office and couldn't have asked for a better experience. I did a TON of research on the procedure and surgeons and felt well prepared but of course it's still nerve wracking to do anything to your face, but I am really happy with my decision and appreciate how natural my results are. The day of surgery, I was very nervous but the nurses were so kind and reassuring. Before my surgery, I got to meet the anesthesia doctor and speak with Dr. Adams briefly. The whole team of nurses took great care of me from start to finish. After the procedure was over, I stayed at the Valley Hotel (booked by the Rousso Adams staff & included in the total cost) which was very nice and comfortable, and I appreciate one of the doctors checking in on me that evening. The worst parts about recovery were breathing through my mouth and getting good enough sleep, but I can say that recovering from my wisdom teeth was worse. I had no bruising, some swelling, and did not take any pain killers other than Tylenol. Getting the splints and cast removed at the 1 week post op did not hurt at all. The recovery time goes by really fast but I do recommend 2 weeks off if you work in an in-person setting. After two weeks, I feel great and back to my normal self, though still a little swollen above my upper lip. Though I mostly chose to have rhinoplasty for aesthetic reasons, I am actually breathing much better than before and I feel like my allergies have improved. I love the way my nose looks now, it's incredibly natural and fits my face well. I know that it will keep improving as the months progress, and I'm excited to see my final results in a year or so. Overall I'm so happy with my decision to go with Dr. Adams and highly recommend him and his staff.
I recently had lower blepharoplasty surgery performed under the skillful hands of Dr. Austin Adams. He, along with his entire staff, were exceptional in guiding me through every step of the procedure. After the surgery, I experienced no pain at all, and I am completely thrilled with the results. Dr. Austin and his team were friendly, caring, and always willing to answer my many questions patiently and efficiently. I would highly recommend him if you are considering having a cosmetic procedure done.
Super excited about my new look (Stull recovering but looking great) Love Dr's vision of my new self- his team was phenomenal pre and post recovery! I'm still in week one but the artistry showing and already starting to.look like the refreshed version of me. Operating team rocks too!
I am so glad a friend told me about Dr. Adams. I had never considered a facelift, but she looked great so I went for a consultation. I also got a second opinion and the other person was less expensive but he did not say he could rid me of the marionette lines that had been bugging me for 10 years. Dr Adams gave me a great jaw line and rid me of the lines. His entire staff is wonderful and very kind. Thanks! I am so glad I found them. After the procedure I realized that I had never had a face that I liked due too a genetic double chin. Rousso-Adams gave me a new lease on life at 74.
Dr.Adams is the only doctor I will use for anything to do with my face. I've been using him since 2020 and can say he is the best. He injects gently and I never bruise (previous doctors left brusing on my face). He is kind and really listens to my concerns and is great at telling me his opinion and if what I'm inquiring about will or won't work for me. He is skilled at the natural look and doesn't over inject causing unnatural results! I definitely recommend him for dysport, prp or any cosmetic facial procedures.
My experience with Dr. Adam’s is always the best anyone could have with a doctor. He is friendly, but professional. He is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I completely trust him with whatever procedure I am asking for. He is educational in his approach, making sure you know why or who not he recommends a certain direction. I would not consider going to anyone else. I recommend him to everyone.
Choosing a surgeon for a procedure that involves a highly visible part of your body is a daunting task. I was apprehensive about getting my nose fixed after it was broken, affecting my breathing. Dr. Adams and his exceptional staff instantly alleviated my concerns. Uncertain about what I wanted, I only knew I wanted my new nose to look natural. Dr. Adams not only reassured me but also provided a visual preview of the final outcome through pictures, ensuring I was comfortable with the plan. Now, with a straightened nose and improved breathing, it still feels uniquely mine. I highly recommend Dr. Adams to anyone contemplating such a decision. After years of hesitation, I’m grateful I finally made that appointment – a decision your future self will appreciate. Give them a call!
I can't express how much this procedure has changed the way I see myself. I have always been self-conscious about my naturally large forehead, and it was a topic of bullying throughout my childhood. Last year I decided to pull the trigger and get the surgery done, and I was blown away by the results. Dr. Adams was so caring and nice and answered all the questions and concerns from both my mom and myself. He made me feel extremely comfortable, and he was confident I could get a good result. PRE-OP: I had to go off my birth control pill for a few weeks before and after surgery to minimize risk of blood clots. I was prescribed an antibiotic, pain meds, and I was given a sponge with antiseptic wash to use on my hairline the morning of the surgery. SURGERY DAY: I was a nervous wreck, as I always am before anesthesia. It took 3 people to get the IV into my tiny veins, so at that point I was nauseous and lightheaded, and was given some Valium for the nerves. Once I woke up, I was excited that the surgery apparently went great and Dr. Adams was able to reduce my forehead by and inch and a half! That made all the arm bruising worth it lol. POST OP: I had to wear a full head wrap for 24 hours and ice my face the first night. I had both stitches and staples along my hairline, which had to be left in for a week, and after that a few staples were left in for a couple more days. During this time I was instructed to spray witch hazel on the incision many times throughout the day, along with applying neosporin to keep it moist. It was also recommended to me to take arnica and bromelain during the healing process, and I think this played a big part in my very minimal bruising. I also continued icing to prevent bruising. I ended up not bruising very much, mostly just a few vertical bruises under each staple. As soon as the staples were completely out, I was allowed to wear makeup over the incision site. I actually went back to work with the staples still in, but it was winter so I wore a knitted headband over them. I had multiple follow-ups to track my progress, and after my incision was completely healed and the mild scabbing had subsided, I started using silicone scar gel around the clock to minimize scarring. After a few months, I felt spiky hairs at the incision site growing in. They have continued growing since. PAIN: Honestly the pain isn't that bad. Admittedly I do have a high pain tolerance, but I'd say it's maybe a 4-5/10 at most. Very tolerable and so worth it. I didn't need the pain meds for more than a few days, and switched to Tylenol after that. Now, a year later, my scar is only visible to me and others I specifically point it out to. It faded into white and is extremely discreet. The hairs that grew through it are several inches long now, so it looks like I have some baby hairs until they reach the length of the rest of my hair. I have zero regrets about this procedure or the doctor I chose. My confidence now vs. before is like day and night. It was worth every penny for me (total with surgery fees was $7800). I chose to pay a down payment of $2500 upfront, and used CareCredit for the remaining amount and paid it off in 6 months with no interest, so I was able to build up some credit too!
For the right patients, chin implants can be used as a solo intervention to improve the contour of the jawline and chin projection. The most notable changes are typically seen on the profile, but increased chin projection is very notable on frontal view as well. With that being said, it is not uncommon to require multi-modal approach when addressing the lower third of the face and neck. Various anatomical components can lead to the appearance of a weak jawline, neck fullness, and laxity. Depending on what is contributing to patient concerns, the surgeon will discuss options that may include combinations of liposuction, tightening procedures, implants, etc. Discussing all your goals and the expected results of each component of the procedure is key in understanding why certain interventions are being offered. Hope this helps, and good luck.
Hi, You bring up a topic that I get asked about very frequently by my patients, especially men. Depending on patient's bone structure, soft tissue anatomy, etc, multiple options for improvement exist. The spectrum of treatments include simple in-office procedures to more involved procedures performed in the OR. A simple intervention is using fillers to improve facial contour of the cheek bones, jawline and chin. Patients see results immediately with no downtime and these results typically last a year or more depending on the type of filler used. For some patients, however, surgical procedures may be indicated including liposuction with lipotransfer, buccal fat pad removal, or even facial implants (cheek, chin, jaw). Be sure to consult with a fellowship trained surgeon experience with aesthetic surgery of the face to discuss individual goals and options to develop a plan that best fits you.
From the picture, you look to be healing well, but continued cleanings are needed to help encourage removal of the crusts. Witch hazel is an over-the-counter product that can be applied to the area during cleanings to loosen the crusts and doesn't have the potential risk of changing hair color. Good luck, and be sure to touch base with your surgeon if you develop any concerning changes. Also, you are correct regarding hair follicles. The follicles transplanted have varying amounts of hair shafts, and can contain 1-4 terminal hairs. Most follicular units contain 2 or 3, but single hair shafts are common as well. The surgeon can use these different follicular units to their advantage when planning placement to achieve the most natural and dense results.
