I drew the genetic short stick when it comes to my jaw line. Due to genetics i have a “double chin.” Even at my lowest weight i have sported this double chin. I was thrilled to find out i was a candidate for cool sculpting! Dr. Grottings nurse, Jennifer, that assists with the cool sculpting procedure has the best bedside manner and is very knowledgeable about Cool sculpting. She explained to me that in order to have the best results that i may require a second treatment! Can’t wait to see the results!
I am scheduled for my procedure next week and am so excited! I am currently LESS than a 32A. I have always wanted boobs and now will finally have them! I specifically do NOT want big boobs, as I have a tiny frame and just want something proportional, natural-looking, and feminine. Therefore I have decided to go with the 220 cc low profile silicone implants. I decided between these or 235 cc moderate profile, but I chose 220 cc low profile. This is because I am extremely thin and just want to fill out my bras/swimsuits and not look noticeably augmented; I realize this is a small implant size. I think the moderate profile would probably look good too, but my biggest fear is going too big as I have a relative who did and regretted hers for YEARS. Dr. Grotting and staff are very professional and welcoming, and the 3D technology he has to simulate what it will look like on YOUR body is top notch! I also cannot stress how patient and genuinely interested in you his staff are. Amanda has been very kind and helpful to me while going back and forth about which size to choose, and even accommodated me coming back in to try on sizers a second time. All in all, I consulted with 3 other surgeons in the area and came back to Dr. Grotting, who was my first consult. He is relatively expensive but I just did not feel that I could find the same quality of work as is shown in his before and after photos anywhere else, and I came to him at the recommendation of a friend. I believe that I am in good hands and will have amazing results based on what I have seen and heard so far. His before and after photos literally look like natural breasts. Fingers crossed, stay tuned for updates! Updated on 30 May 2019: I had my surgery yesterday! I ended up going with 240 cc moderate profile implants since they said that would fit my small body better than low profile. Everyone at the office was great and I was extremely nervous. I woke up in recovery and just wanted my parents! I think my actual surgery only took around 30ish minutes once they took me into the O.R. Today I am sore and my chest muscle feels VERY tight- like I have a huge, tight rubber band around my chest, and when I sit up from a reclining position, my boobs stay stationary and I feel like I have a segment of a two by four strapped on my chest. I have had some moderate pain. I have a low pain tolerance but still have not had bad pain. I have not been taking pain meds every 4 hours and have been fine, I just take them when I feel like I need them. Some moderate pain but nothing like I am dying. The chest tightness is what is bothering me, but when I recline or lay propped on pillows I am fine. I was not as tight the day of surgery, but after sleeping last night I feel like the stiffness really set in! I took my first post op shower today and WOW that was an experience! It was the first time I saw my new boobs or even took the support bra off. It was a shock! Thank goodness my mom was here to help me! She said they looked good and I’m sure they do but I’m just not used to seeing boobs on my body. She squeezed my shampoo and conditioner out of the bottle for me because they were close to empty and helped me with my shower. My boobs are very high and tight (I expected that though) and look like torpedoes. One nipple is pointing a little differently than the other, but I’m not worried right now as I’m pretty sure with swelling and all that is fairly normal. Hopefully in a few weeks they will look more alike. This is the crazy part! When the support bra came off it LITERALLY felt like my boobs were about to pop and fall out on the floor! In the shower I kept saying “I’m scared” because I could feel the implants in my chest way more than when they are being squished down and supported by the recovery bra! I didn’t like that feeling so I showered super quickly, just enough to feel refreshed, and got out and put that thing back on ASAP! The support bra squishes more than I expected and my mom had to fasten the clasps together for me. The support bra clasps I think are making my sternum super sore and tender, or maybe it’s from the surgery, I’m not sure. Anyway I love this support bra because it keeps it from feeling like my boobs are going to fall out! That was such a strange sensation and I can’t wait for that part to go away haha! Over all so far I have been sleeping as I feel tired (also thanks to some of the meds I’m sure), laying reclined in bed, and walking around as much as I can. I had visitors yesterday and today and felt well enough to sit and talk with them. I felt more tired on the evening of my surgery, but I have had more energy today. I do not feel terrible but I do get tired easily. The pain is really not awful. The stiffness and tightness are the main things affecting me now. Updated on 1 Jun 2019: Today is day 3 post op and I am feeling way better than I expected! The tightness has faded a lot and I actually don’t really have any pain in my boobs. The painful thing is the band of the compression bra I have to wear. It digs into my sternum where it clasps in the front and hurts and makes it hard to breathe deeply. I put a rolled up sock behind the bottom clasps in front to help keep it from digging into my sternum so bad. I took another shower this morning and it was a little easier than last time. My boobs don’t look so “torpedo-like” today like they did the first time I took off the bra. Today they are a bit rounder and I didn’t notice my nipples pointing different ways so I’m hoping that’s good. They do feel really big right now but I’m pretty sure that’s just swelling since I got such a small implant size! It still feels weird when I take the bra off to shower and my boobs feel so heavy when they hang unsupported and I can feel the implants behind the muscle when I bend over to get soap in the shower without to bra on. It’s a weird sensation and leaves me wanting to put the bra back on ASAP! But not quite as bad as I did the first shower a couple days ago. I basically have no pain just my body aches some from having to lie on my back every night and a lot during the day. I’ve been getting up and walking around the house, eating, etc but my legs especially do not like laying on my back every time I lie down. My first follow up appointment is this upcoming Thursday and I will share about it here. Updated on 7 Jun 2019: I am now 9 days post op and had my one week follow up appointment yesterday! One of my boobs is still higher than the other as the other has dropped more quickly. Dr. Grotting said that it is normal and that it is in position to fall into the perfect spot to be even with my other breast and nipples pointing same way. I will start the breast exercises soon and I was shown how to do that. I was given the OK to but a supportive normal bra, which I did and feels great, but I am actually wearing the compression bra still because I want to make sure they are good and ready to come out of the recovery bra. The recovery bra feels way better now than it did when I had just had the surgery! Not so constricting anymore! As far as pain I only had pain really the day of surgery and a bit the day after. The day after was mostly stiffness and not pain. My boobs still feel kind of weird to me as I can feel them under the muscle when I move my arms when I take the bra off to shower, but not as much as they did a week or so ago. I am having a bit of pain in one of my incisions but yesterday at my check up they trimmed my sutures and said everything looked fine, so I’m thinking maybe I just stretched my arm a bit too far reaching for something high up and it will most likely go away. When I got sized for a bra at the store (Victoria’s Secret), I am now a 32D!! I was in total shock! I’m not sure if I will go down in size as swelling goes down or not, but we will see. Even though my bra size right now is a D I don’t feel like my boobs are huge. Bigger, but not too big. Dr. Grotting remarked at my follow up yesterday that he thinks I got a perfectly proportional size and is glad I did not get a bigger option! I am very pleased with the way everything is going and just waiting on my left breast to even out with the other one. I am still very early in the healing process so I’m being patient and not worried about it. I still can’t believe that the recovery has been so easy thus far. Updated on 14 Jun 2019: I am now 2 weeks and 2 days post-op! I just wanted to post a little update on how I'm feeling so anyone else who's considering this might know what to expect. I have no pain now and the "weird" sensation of something being behind my chest muscle is basically gone. I only feel a slightly odd sensation when I move my arm in certain ways (ie to push in a chair). My boobs feel more and more like my own every day. My left boob has continued to drop and is still a bit swollen but I expect it to settle normally. I have plenty of energy (and have for awhile now!), and just have to remember not to run or lift anything heavy for awhile. I am still getting used to my boobs but I am feeling happy and pleased! Updated on 17 Feb 2020: I'm coming up on my almost 9 month boob-iversary and just wanted to give a positive update on how things have been long term. Everything settled perfectly and I am now a 32D bra size in Victoria's Secret, and even though a size D might sound big, it's perfect even on my very thin body (it's also a 32 so a small D, basically like a full C). I can't believe I've had these amazing boobs for this long already. It's crazy and they told me this would happen, but they literally feel like I grew them with my own body and I feel like I've had them my whole life! I was told that eventually your brain adapts to your new body image and you develop the sense that your new boobs are naturally yours and it's TRUE. I got that feeling for the first time about 1-2 months post-op-- I remember the exact moment I was standing in the shower washing my hair, and for the first time it felt like my amazing boobs were just naturally there-- and it's felt that way ever since. I cannot praise Dr. Grotting's office and practice enough. I would 100% do this over again if I had to, and I would never go anywhere else to have it done. My breasts look and feel so natural, they move when I move ("jiggle" when I run like natural breasts), and this is coming from someone who had little breast tissue before having this procedure. They are perfectly proportioned to my body, a result of Dr. Grotting's thoughtful listening to my aesthetic goals and expertise in making sure it will "look right." They are exactly what I wanted and every day I am so glad I did it, and especially glad I did it with this office. I would not have gotten these results anywhere else in Birmingham, or even Alabama, based on the tons of before and after photos from other doctors I looked at before having this done. Dr. Grotting can never retire because there is no one else I would ever trust to do it (since breast implants are not "lifetime devices" and potentially have to be replaced at some point). I finally have the boobs that I wish God had given me. Dr. Grotting is expensive but in this case you 100% get what you pay for and he is WORTH IT hands down, don't trust anyone else with making sure you look naturally amazing! One of my closest friends, who has known me both before and after having this surgery, was talking to me recently about how she was interested in getting her boobs done someday. When I told her that I'd had mine done back in May she was shocked because she had never noticed (which is exactly how I wanted it to be, as I just wanted a natural look and to be able to fill out clothing/swimsuits as a result of my surgery)! To me, the best plastic surgery is the kind that looks amazing but isn't noticeable or obvious, it looks like you were born that way! Obviously if I had gone for a more dramatic look with bigger implants or had hung around my friends in a swimsuit a lot pre-surgery, they might've noticed, but I dress pretty modestly and haven't shown 'em off in a swimsuit yet! My honeymoon is this summer and I can't wait to look my best on the beach! One of my other friends and I had this procedure done with Dr. Grotting 2 days apart and her boobs look very natural also. If you're on the fence, I highly encourage you to do a consultation with Dr. Grotting because you can trust that he will make your results look natural, proportional, and appealing.
Wanted to remove dark circles and bags, was sick of looking tired all the time. Was ready for a new fresh look. Went to visit Dr. Grotting and his staff. He and his staff were all around A+. I had my lower eyelid surgery just a little over a week ago and am already loving the results. Cannot wait for a few weeks down the road to see the final results. Definitely would recommend Dr. Grotting to anyone thinking about having this done.
This man is amazing. He’s a true artist and did such a fantastic job on my breast augmentation. I’m beyond appreciative of the detail he put into speaking with me, the procedure, and far after my surgery. He also doesn’t try to sell you on anything, make a consultation with him if you’re considering a procedure and trust that he will tell you the truth and not just be looking out for his pocket book.
Had my TT and Lipo on flanks last week on 1/31. Feeling pretty good. Only have pain when transitioning from sitting to standing. Only taking pain meds at night now; taking tylenol during the day to take the edge off the pain/discomfort. I love being able to connect and ask questions on here about anything and everything. Hugs everyone!
I've been a medical professional in Birmingham since 1980 so I had the advantage of asking advice from coworkers. Dr Grotting has a reputation for doing the best breast work and he deserves that reputation. I'm very glad I had the large (500 cc) saline implants I've had since 1990 removed. The skin underneath stayed irritated, the weight hurt my neck and it was hard to find clothing that fit. Dr Grotting was able to reconstruct the loose, thin skin. I'm happy with the position of my breasts. They look nice in a C cup bra. The incisions healed well. I felt safe having surgery in the office. I chose fat augmentation because I had only a small amount of breast tissue. I had liposuction of my abdomen. My abdomen is flatter but I have some loose skin now. I knew to expect some of the fat in my breasts would not survive and most of it did not. I'm not sure the cost, discomfort and recovery of the abdominal liposuction and fat augmentation was worth it but I'm very happy with the mastopexy.
I was tired of headaches , back and neck hurting shoulders hurting. Due to restricted movement I gained weight Ladies this is totally worth it!!! The worst thing for me was the drain tubes on each side only because I'm a side sleeper. I took no pain medication after the procedure I had some discomfort but nothing terribly bad. I love the confidence I have now the way I look is truly amazing.
Dr. Grotting performed my breast augmentation 11 years ago so I knew where to go when I needed a tummy tuck and breast lift. They are the BEST and provide the best support and results. I am so happy and feel more confident in my clothing. I would recommend Dr. Grotting to anyone/everyone as he provides the best results. His nurse (Jennifer) is the most caring and supportive nurse you could ask for in a surgical situation. I was really nervous and she gave me a big hug the morning of the surgery which made me feel less anxious. I just love this group as they have treated me so kindly.
I've had several procedures done here. I was extremely nervous at first---how do you know if a plastic surgeon is REALLY good or not? I can assure you 100% that Dr. Grotting is beyond outstanding. In fact, he literally wrote the book(s) on plastic surgery---the medical texts are on display in his office. I am so happy with my results that I have continued to use Grotting and Cohn for Coolsculpting as well as laser treatments on my face, arms, and legs to get rid of those pesky sun spots/age spots. The staff is exceptionally friendly. They really do treat you like family here. I love it!!!--Birmingham, Alabama
I'm at the very nervous stage. I think I am most concerned with the bruising after and that I may be cooped up for weeks. Whenever I have gotten fillers there has been a lot of swelling and bruising. I can't even imagine what this may be like. I can't wait for the final results , however. Any reassurance would be appreciated. Updated on 19 Aug 2015: Updated on 19 Aug 2015: Updated on 4 Sep 2015: Updated on 8 Sep 2015: Went to dr today for stitches and nose guard removal. Still very swollen cheeks, jaw and nose tip. Back next week for staple removal. Updated on 11 Sep 2015: I still have tape on my nose. I tried out some different cover up for my bruises under my eyes. I am wondering why these bruises stay red while the rest have turned blue then yellow. These won't budge. Swelling continues to reduce. Can't wait to get staples out on Tuesday. Updated on 14 Sep 2015: Glamour shot of the day! Can't wait to get this tape off my nose so I can go out in public. I am nervous about getting the staples out. Its got to hurt. Updated on 21 Sep 2015: Updated on 25 Sep 2015: Today is the first day I don't feel like I look like an alien. I know I'm still swollen, especially my nose and jaw, but am starting to get a sense of the final results. Dr. Grotting was pleased with my healing at 3 week visit. He and his staff are superb. Updated on 5 Oct 2015: This just shows what make up and good lighting can do. Smoke and mirrors. Haha. Updated on 12 Oct 2015: I can't believe 7 weeks has gone by. It's difficult to estimate how swollen I still am. I know my nose tip is swollen and my jawline. The sides of my face in front of my ears is still very numb. My scars are minimal. I'm lucky my hair covers them. Updated on 27 Oct 2015: As the swelling goes down I am seeing those nasty lines around the lips again. My nose is still swollen ( I hope). I wanted it to be less prominent. Updated on 11 Nov 2015: I'm happy about most of my results overall. I wish my lips were fuller. I still have to overdraw lip liner. Not thrilled with my nose. I'm hoping it will continue to lose swelling. Updated on 25 Nov 2015: Had my 3 month follow up. He said my nose tip was still swollen and should continue to improve. Updated on 12 Oct 2016: Still very happy with my results.
If you are a good candidate for CoolSculpting, having metal in your knees is not a contraindication. The main contraindication for having CoolSculpting in the abdomen is a hernia or recent surgery in the abdomen.
Not at all! It is perfectly fine for you to have CoolSculpting around a surgery if the surgical area is not near the area being treated. If you were having abdominal surgery, it would be prudent to wait 3-6 months before having CoolSculpting.
The company states that results can happen in as early as three weeks! That being said, when we got our machine and followed up with phone calls at 3-4 weeks, we were disappointed to hear that they could not tell any difference. Not to worry, at 6-8 week and even as far out as 12 up to 16 weeks we were seeing great results. Through the studies, on a cellular level, we know that the process has begun by three weeks but actually seeing results happens between 6-8 weeks.
Congratulations on your news! Even though we do not intentionally treat pregnant women with CoolSculpting, your body has protected your child from the cold. The fat that was treated was above your stomach muscles and your muscles, organs and uterus are perfect in protecting the baby underneath. You may have a little soreness from the treatment but not to worry about the precious cargo! Best of luck!
I’m glad to see you’re thinking ahead! It all depends on your priorities. If the abdomen bothers you now and you think you would feel better about yourself with cool sculpting, I would go ahead and do that. It appears that you have very little fat in your abdomen, however, a better donor site for fat in you would be perhaps in the thighs or flanks. This is also the area that with reduction makes the buttocks look rounder and fuller. Once an area is cool sculpted, there is scarring and some of the fat has damage so it doesn’t transplant as predictably as fresh areas. Maintaining health and confidence over time will help maintain a great body image so do things that you can enjoy!
