I'm planning on having a mini tuck and my PS explained that he doesnt use drains. He wants me to visit him once a week for drainage. Is this common??
Yes, it's perfectly acceptable to perform mini tummy tucks and even full tummy tucks without drains. If your surgeon is planning on this, usually he/she is using "progressive tension sutures." The goal is not to get a fluid collection (seroma) that requires drainage although this is possible. As long as you feel confident in your surgeon's abilities, it's reasonable to go ahead. Good luck!
I had a mini tummy tuck 8 years ago. My upper stomach has lose skin. There is a bump or bulge around my belly button. Can a 2nd mini tuck with releasing the belly button and moving it down be done? Would that tighen the skin above the belly button?
It's too difficult to say without pictures and a physical examination, but my guess is that you would require a traditional tummy tuck at this point.
I just had my mini TT about 2 wks ago. All went fine. The pain was less than during a c-section. I'm worried about the way the belly button looks. It looks like a line with two folds around it. My doc said to start packing it which I'm doing but once I remove the gauze and tape, it folds back into a line. I can't see how the skin will spread apart but I'm still hopeful. Is this the normal healing process for the belly button because the pictures that I've seen show very tight skin around the navel. Will time fix this???
Let your skin relax over 6 months and then start looking at the area. Right now there is a lot of swelling and tension. Give it time.
