I had my bbl surgery on May 11 and I am happy so far! I had liposuction on my flanks, lower back and upper back. I didn't have lipo on my stomach because I had a tummy tuck last year with a different surgeon and I need to get a revision but Dr. Schulman said I need to wait at least 12 months. I decided to get a bbl before a tummy tuck revision because I have wanted a bbl for almost 10 years now. I wish I knew of Dr. Schulman back when I booked my bbl in 2014. I had no idea there was such an amazing surgeon only an hour away from me. In 2014, I flew to Miami to have a bbl by a different surgeon who told me a day before my surgery I couldn't have a bbl ever because I have raynauds which constricts blood vessels. He told me I could have lost fingers if I did the surgery. I was defeated and devastated. It took a long time to accept this. One day I was searching online and came across Dr. Schulman. When I reached out to Dr. Schulman to see if I am a candidate for a bbl, I was told with clearance I could get a bbl even though I have raynauds. I was so excited! I counted down each day until my surgery! Recovery has been easy! I was told I had 2700 ml of fat removed and after the pure fat was separated, I received 800 cc to each cheek/ hip dip. I have an amazing shape now thank you to Dr. Schulman. He did an amazing job even with little fat to work with. Of course I wish I could have gotten more projection but he could only do so much with the fat he got out. I am hoping it will fluff out throughout the healing process. When I took off my faja for the first time I was so happy. My butt has shrunk a little since but I hope and pray I won't lose more fat. Updated on 30 May 2023: I can't believe how fast time is flying by! I can't wait to switch into a stage 2 garment. I'm tired of the stage 1 garment because it looks so weird under clothes for me. I didn't have drains so I noticed I had a lot of swelling especially on my lower back. Today I touched the swelling on my lower back and when I touched it, it moved up so I need to get it drained this week. Hopefully I will feel some relief once that's done. Updated on 3 Jun 2023: I had a seroma drained on Wednesday and I am going back on Monday to have it drained again. I hope it will go away and that I won't have to get it drained after that. I'm wearing a stage 2 garment now and I like it so much better than stage 1!! It looks good under clothes which was my biggest annoyance with the stage 1 garment! Updated on 6 Jun 2023: I noticed after my surgery I had dents on each side of my butt but it looks like the left side dent has gotten worse. Has this happened to anyone? I was changing out of my garment today when my daughter said mommy you have a huge dent on your butt. I'm worried this will get worse. Tell
Was looking for a positive improvement for my body as for years I have struggled to lose weight and keep weight off of me. I have not only gained weight but feel my body proportions have become more skewed with the gain and I have lost the shape I used to have. I have been using this site in the past to source good drs so I figured to continue to do that. I found Dr schulman with Real Self and looked at the gushing reviews and had the best feeling to go to him for my body shaping needs. He convinced me to to scoop BBL and focus on first removing the fat on upper/lower back, flanks and adding to butt to project it a bit. I will consider tummy lipo at a further time. So far I am on day 4 of healing and so far like the progress. Still incredibly swollen and lipo suctioned areas are painful. Updated on 24 Apr 2023: Sorry not all of my photos uploaded with the last post. I apologize.! Updated on 24 Apr 2023: Sorry I had meant to include these views in my last post! So far I’m a little discouraged with the results only because I specifically asked for hip dips to be removed but I still see them. I will be going for Lipo on the tummy I have already made up my mind about this and may be, there can be a revision in that procedure. The doctor seemed pretty understanding with regards to revisions so I will talk about that and tomorrow’s one week postop appointment. Other than that, I generally feel sore and yearning for this to be over with. Especially my back ….I had just recovered from back pain from two herniated discs, and I finally felt no more pain in March but the positions I have to be in with recovery have flared up that pain again just a little bit to remind me my back is not 100% yet. I know this was all my choice though and I could’ve delayed if I wanted to but I wanted to carry this out as quickly as I could because there are a lot of plans ahead of me for the summer. I want to be recovered by June. And it looks like most recoveries are eight weeks, so I am looking at some point in early June feeling back to normal and able to sit again if all goes well. I will post another update after my appointment tomorrow ! Updated on 26 Apr 2023: The more time that goes by , the more the swelling goes down , the more I see this left-side hip dip spot and I am obsessing how asymmetrical it is compared to the other side of my body. The fall can’t come quick enough so that I can get this fixed, I really want to remove the belly pooch and then have him correct these hip dips because they are not as I expected them to look for the high price tag of this procedure! Updated on 6 May 2023: I am back to my preop weight with the swelling gone down. I am more content with results though I know I definitely want to have the consultation soon for tummy lipo! My tummy looks so off balance now! Wish I had better mirror for better pics Updated on 9 May 2023: I had my second follow up post surgery and was given a brand new garment today. It’s extremely uncomfortable because it is way more tight and obviously makes me feel more heated up in my clothes, and I easily sweat not ideal for heading into warmer weather of summer. I have to wear this garment 24 seven for the next three weeks and then after that for the next six weeks I’ll wear it 12 hours a day. Otherwise, healing is going OK. I started lymphatic drainage massage once a week to expel the fluid buildup in the tissues on my back from the Lipo, which was recommended it also feels a ton better afterwards having the areas drained. I took some better photos while I was in my appointment today. I’m sure there is still swelling that needs to go down further but so far progress is looking OK. I still really hate the way the hips look kind of square from the front and my tummy protrudes. Next time I will meet with the doctor I will address these things and hopefully set up the next surgery ! Updated on 26 Jun 2023: Definitely feel like it was worth it now that the swelling us come down. I still am not wild about the hip dip areas but those may still improve. Dr said possibly still slight swelling. We will see! I am overall happy though shape isn’t perfect. He recommended not adding more to dips .
I am going to add a bit of background information here. I have been wanting a breast lift/augmentation for over 15 years. I am no stranger to doing the proper research and knowing what qualities to look for in a potential plastic surgeon. I knew I wanted to go for my dream procedure after I was done childbearing. The time had finally come. I found Dr. Schulman on Instagram back in early 2020 and I was so impressed with his credentials and his work. I continued to follow him on all platforms and frequented his website, all while continuing my extensive research in the perfect surgeon to fit my needs. No matter how many other surgeons I researched and before/after photos I scrolled through, I could not have my mind changed about wanting to choose Dr. Schulman. I think many people are deceived by these “deals” they see advertised online promoting plastic surgery for much cheaper than you would be quoted for by Dr. Schulman. First of all, you get what you pay for, so if you are going for a top-notch board certified surgeon, their price is going to reflect just that. Second, what I like about Dr. Schulman is when you get your quote, this quote covers the entire cost which includes surgery, anesthesia, pre-op/post-op visits and post-op garment. You are not going to be receiving more bills along the way. I went to the office for my pre-op visit three weeks before my surgery date and it is beautiful. Super clean and modern. I met Dr. Schulman and he is just as nice as he seems on social media. He is realistic and listens to exactly what you want and lets you know exactly what results you can expect. I was excited to say the least. On the day of my surgery, I got to meet my anesthesiologist, Dr. Rahmani, beforehand in the exam room. He was so kind and reassuring. He made me feel like I was in great hands as far as the anesthesia aspect. After meeting my anesthesiologist, Dr. Schulman came in the exam room. He was pleasant as always. We discussed some final details and then he was like a scientist in the lab. He pulled out his sharpies and starting drawing on me. He was gentle and kind. He showed me how my breasts would look and said I’ll see you in a few minutes! Finally, my sweet nurse, Kimberly, came in. She led me into the operating suite. All of the star players were already there and before I knew it, I woke up in recovery to Kimberly. She took care of me up until it was time for me to leave. She wheeled me out to my chaperone’s car. Fast forward to today, I am 8 days post-op and I could not be happier. My expectations have been surpassed. The confidence I feel is unmatched. A confidence I have never felt with my breasts. I met Kristen yesterday at my post-op visit and she was just as kind as the rest of the others I have already mentioned. Overall, I am so happy I went with my gut and booked Dr. Schulman. I know everyone desires the best “deal”, but bargaining is not something you want to consider when it comes to your body and your health. Dr. Schulman is absolutely worth every penny and I told him and his staff that this will not be their last time seeing me! Do not hesitate on booking Dr. Schulman! Pro-Tip: I was given the option to purchase their post-op recovery kit specific to my procedure. It included an extra garment, bottle of arnica forte to help with swelling/bruising, scar gel and vitamin B12 shot to be given at your post-op visit. I would recommend purchasing as I swear the arnica forte helped immensely. I am glad I have the extra garment that I know fits me exactly as it should as opposed to trying to buy one on my own. I have also been able to switch them up between washing instead of wearing the same old garment from the day of surgery. The scar gel has great reviews and it is not the same one you would get at your local pharmacy, it is still too early for me to use. I also did the math and buying everything separately would not have saved any money, it looks like it may even cost more. The only way you would lower the cost would be by buying cheaper/diluted versions of these items. Do it right and get it straight from the source! Updated on 30 Mar 2023:
Dr. Schulman had to fix a bad plastic surgery I had done in Colombia. Tummy Tuck, horrible scar and bbl shape, results are still in process as it’s been 6 months only. Results for what I see so far will need a second revision (doggy ears, middle part of scar that couldn’t be removed in one procedure) but after the surgery I had many compliments about my butt and waist . The results are stunning yet natural. Anesthesia was a great experience too. I was in the operating room talking with the anesthesiologist and a second later they were waking me up:ALL DONE! Reasonable and accessible prices for a TOP New Yorker Plastic Surgeon.
First of all Dr Matthew Schulman is the King of BBL and I say so confidently because not only does he give you a butt but he also shapes your entire mid section! More like preparing the table before a grand feast. He is intentional about every detail on your body and aims for excellence. On the other hand, I tend to realize some surgeons just drop the fat in your butt then say bye! So I had surgery on July 27th 2021 and am 5 weeks post op and I love my results every single day. I know I will be happier by the end of my 6 months to 1 year period when I would have FLUFFED and BUFFED up for my new body. I just want anyone reading this to know after you get work done by Schulman; you will want to pay him even more; yes ! It’s that good. He goes the extra mile and so does his staff! He has excellent bedside manners and tells you the honest truth by making you know he is there to create a natural effect no matter what size you require. which I suppose we all should aspire to achieve- NATURAL!!. His space is clean and very classy and the staff treat everyone with respect and make you feel more confident that you chose right. Am snatched and no one can tell I got work done; they just think I look amazing and I worked out! No fake behind; just as real as nature made it! That’s the touch and magic of the real Matthew Schulman !!! A huge applause to this board certified legendary plastic surgeon!
My experience with Dr. Schulman and his staff was absolutely impeccable. I researched for well over a year, ultimately deciding on Dr. Schulman, and he did not disappoint! There are people who are surgeons and capable of doing a procedure and then there are those that are far beyond that. Dr. Schulman is that. He is so incredibly gifted!! He has an intuition that is amazing and he is nothing less than astounding. I really appreciated his attention to medical safety with all of the pre-surgical testing. He truly cares about his patients and would rather turn down doing a surgery, then possibly put anyone at risk. There aren't enough words to be able to describe how gifted he is! He is not local to me, but I would 100% travel to wherever he is for him to be my plastic surgeon!!
I have been watching Dr. Schulman’s work for years. He was upfront and realistic with what to expect with my results due to me being a skinny patient. Well, fast forward to almost 12wks PO and me being in complete aww with my transformation. I stay in the mirror. My mid-section was my main concern and then hip dips/projection followed. Dr.S explained that I wouldn’t be too flat (due to my abdominal muscle separation from having 2 kids), but I will see a difference. Let me tell you this man’s craftsmanship superseded his expectation. Everything worked out great. He got more fat out of me than he expected, he gave me Lats which I wanted but never asked for, he said I would need a drain and to my surprise I woke up without one. I mean from surgery day to post surgery days were amazing. I was not in pain AT ALL, maybe uncomfortable but nothing too crazy, no blood spilling everywhere looking like a crime scene. Undetectable, very few incisions. The massages from day two of surgery truly helped me with my speedy recovery. He doesn’t recommend them but I couldn’t imagine healing as fast as I did without them. I am extremely glad that I chose him and his team to perform my procedure. I knew I was in great hands from the first day that I met him. I LOVE my results!! I’m breaking necks unintentionally.
From my consultation to my post surgery visits it was smooth sailing. The staff was attentive to my questions and concerns. My breast augmentation, breast lift and tummy tuck (mommy makeover) look fantastic! I healed quickly. I highly recommend Doctor Schulman. He will definitely be my surgeon for life.
Let me start by saying everyone at Dr Schulman's office were amazing, friendly and professional. They were really dedicated to my needs and made me feel comfortable. Dr Schulman has great bedside manner, he tooks his time with me explained everything and listen to all my questions. I am currently 10 weeks post op and loving my results. Doctor Schulman really did an amazing job on my body and I couldn't be happier. He is truly the bbl king. The pictures don't do any justice my butt is so much rounder, fuller my hips are nice and full, I love it. My back fat is gone!! He lipo my back, arms and inner thighs everything looks proportional and natural which is what I wanted. I'm happy with my decision in going with Dr Schulman, I knew is was going to be a guaranteed success and it definitely was. Highly recommend Dr, Matthew Schulman.
I lost 50 pounds and my weight had always gone up and down. But 50 pounds is the most I ever lost and my breast looked like neve plastic bags. I felt so self-conscious and not attractive at all. My hubby suggested I get implants for my 29th bday. I was elated but also knew I had a lot of work to do to find a good doctor. I wanted minimal scarring and no drains. Dr. Schulman was worth every penny. He gave me large implants but not too big as they will get bigger as I gain weight. We decided on 415cc. He ordered two sizes for my surgery day for my to choose which I really appreciated as it was a worry that they would be too small. There amazing, even before they dropped and settled. He gave me a lift on one breast to make them even. He cut around the nipple only, not down the breast. You can't even tell there were stitches. Totally seamless. Day I came home from surgery and On I had NO bleeding out of sutures. Minimal pain, I was moving around that day. Felt like pressure for a few weeks. Wore compression bra for 6 weeks 24/7. Staff was great. I am so happy I chose him. I have seen horror story breast implant jobs as I was a bartender at strip clubs for years. He is worth it, breasts can be very tricky. They are completely even and amazing. I have schedule BBL for the same day this year as I had my breasts in 2020 but with a different doctor. Schulman BBL a little too expensive lol
Based on the photos, it does appear that you could benefit from some targeted liposuction of your chin area. You do not have a lot of fat, but it only takes a small amount of extra fat to give a fuller appearance to that area, It is hard to see from the photos, but it does appear that you have a small lower jaw and often we combine liposuction and a small chin implant to give a more contoured appearance. Seek a consultation with an experienced plastic surgeon and see what they say.
Even though you don't have a lot of fat, you still appear to be a good candidate for chin liposuction. This is because it can very specifically remove the small amount of fat that you are complaining of. Also, liposuction can contour the jawline and given an improved appearance, even if the actual amount of excess fat is small.
Since it only takes a small amount of excess fat in the chin area to give a full appearance, even thin people can have fat there. It just depends where the fat pocket is. Often, this is genetic, and not related to overally body weight. Liposuction is a great option for targeted fat removal in this area.
A chin implant and chin/neck liposuction is a great combination. This is because it can address the two things that can make people unhappy with that area - excess fat & a small chin bone. The liposuction can be done from either the chin area and/or from behind the ears. I personally do not see any issue with doing the lipo from the chin area at the same time as the chin implant, but you should trust your surgeon's judgement. It is possible that they are concerned about the lipo increasing the chance of the chin implant moving around.
We should clarify that just because something is "elective" does NOT mean it won't be covered. Elective means that it is not an emergency and you are choosing to have it done, but it may be something required for medical necessity. What is important about a Tummy tuck is not that it is elective, but rather that it is cosmetic in nature. It is being done to help appearance but not for a medical need. If you have back pain that you say is because of your abdomen, then you can certainly try to make a case with your insurance company that there is medical need. However, this will be very difficult to prove to them and would require a significant amount of documentation and visits to several spine doctors and imaging. Regarding "why insurance will cover abdominoplasty after weight loss surgery?", they don't always. Insurance companies have specific requirements and usually includes weight loss of over 100lbs, skin that hangs past the pubic region, and documentation of rashes or fungal infections in skin folds. Even then, they only cover the skin removal (a panniuclectomy) and NOT everything that is part of a tummy tuck (ie. muscle repair, liposuction). So, while you may really want your insurance to cover the tummy tuck procedure, it just isn't what medical insurance is intended to cover.
