What Procedure Accomplishes This Kind of Upward Diagonal Correction? (photo)

I have read extensively about the MFLs and FLs but doctors and I do not think I'd really benefit from the "standard" techniques. I'm 32 but have extra skin in the mouth area that form "pouches" or folds. There is no fat to remove. If I pinch my skin up by my sideburn, this alleviates the problem entirely. So I wonder if a skin-only lift could be done, with the scar in this region (see image). I don't think I need subperiosteal dissection - and doubt I'd benefit from standard MFL techniques.

A: Pouches

I doubt that a skin only lift would help for any significant time, if at all. Trying to correct folds near the mouth by pulling the skin back near the ear doesn't do it. I think it's hard to give further advise without an examination to see how your skin and tissue really move. Good luck.

Why Can't I Have Neck or Facelift as a Smoker?

I've had both upper and lower eye lid surgery, arm reduction and a tummy tuck. I am a smoker and am 51 years old. I've healed fine in all cases. Why can't I have a neck or facelift?

A: Facelift for Smokers

It is possible for you to have a facelift if you smoke.  Your excellent recovery from your previous surgeries is a positive sign.

Smoking decreases the blood supply to the skin by constricting the vessels, and this makes the healing time longer and also increases your chances for skin loss. Many surgeons will not perform a facelift on a patient  who smokes for these reasons.  I will perform the face and neck lift but I do much less skin undermining and tightening.  The patient also understands that they are at increased risk.

Is a Mid-face Lift a Problem when a Person Has Dentures?

I am not sure but I heard a rumor so I thought I better ask.

A: Midface lift and dentures

I perform all of my midface lifts through a lower eyelid approach, so dentures would not be a problem. I think that some docs will make an incision near the upper gums inside the mouth. If so the denture might rub against the incision. Check with your surgeon.
