How is Mini Tummy Tuck Different from Full Tummy Tuck Regarding Anesthesia?

When are mini tummy tucks possible without the need of general anesthesia? http://www.pelosimedicalcenter.com/tummytuck_faq.htm

A: mini tuck vs full tummy tuck regarding anesthesia.

Thank you for your question. A full tummy tuck deals with your abdomen from the pubis region to the rib cage and involves significant movement of skin and tightening of the abdominal muscles.  This extensive surgery  requires ether general or spinal anesthesia.  A mini tummy tuck on the other hand is concerned with just the abdomen from the belly button down to the pubic region with minimal skin movement and muscle tightening.  As it is a  smaller operation it may be performed with local anesthesia with I.V. sedation. Of course, it could also be performed with general or spinal anesthesia.

Mini Tummy Tuck with Umbilicoplasty

Okay, I want to know if it's possible to give me a mini tummy tuck w/ umbilicoplasty without touching my muscles??? I have one or two stretch marks nothing major and my c section scar doesn't look bad at all. I work-out 5 days a week and am very fit. I am looking to have the little bit of extra skin removed in the lower abdomen and if possible my belly button moved to fix the indent above it? I don't mind if the incision is larger than my c-section.

A: Mini Tummy Tuck with Umbilicoplasty

Yes, from  your photos, it appears you would be a good candidate for a mini tummy tuck and the umbilicoplasty could be performed at the same time.

Mini Tummy Tuck w/ No Drains

I'm planning on having a mini tuck and my PS explained that he doesnt use drains. He wants me to visit him once a week for drainage. Is this common??

A: Do mini Tummy Tucks require drains?

Depending on the size of the mini tummy tuck or mini abdominoplasty, the surgery may or may not require the placement of drains
