I have severe eye hollows all the way around. Can I just get filler in cheek so that it may improve my orbital rim?? Will this work?
Depending on the amount of skin laxity in the lower eyelid and cheek and the quality and thickness of the over lying tissue, one could consider either a midface lift, fat transfers, injectable fillers, as well as a possible blepharoplasty. If the condition is more severe, it may require a combination of these options. Get an opinion from at least two board certified plastic surgeons who routinely perform facial rejuvenation surgery.
I am male 39 and can see some early signs of skin sagging on my face. The skin over cheeks is lax and there is no definition in the cheek area. I consulted a cosmetic surgeon in London who advised me that grafting fat to cheek area will be a good alternative to cheek lift. Then I visited another one who mentioned that given the amount of laxity too much fat transfer maybe required and that I would be better off with a cheek lift. What is the view of surgeons here?
Ideally, a midface lift, possibly along with an upper cheek/zygoma enhancement (implant, fat transfer or injectable filler), would probably give you the best result. I would caution you that having fat transfer alone could result in a more puffy appearance, in the long run, which you may not like. If you opt for cheek enhancement alone without the lift you may want to consider a shorter acting filler such as Restylane, which will resorb over time or which can be reversed with Hyaluronidase.
What is the difference between a "cheek lift" and a "mid face lift".
The terms Cheek Lift and Midface Lift are often used interchangeably. However, the procedures to rejuvenate the cheek/midface can vary and each surgeon may deal with this area in different ways depending on the individual patient. In most cases an incision is made in the temple and/or in front of the ear (a lower eyelid incision may also be chosen). The skin and deeper tissues (SMAS - Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System) is often elevated and advanced upward and laterally. Along with this cheek implants, fat injections or injectable fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm or Sculptra can be used to further augment the cheeks. Any one of the above procedures, or any combination of them may be referred to as a Cheek or Midface Lift - check with your surgeon and make certain you understand exactly what they are planning to do prior to having your surgery.
