I bought an online voucher for Pixel Perfect laser resurfacing and made an appointment for this weekend. In looking over the fine print, I saw that it is valid only for appointments with either a medical aesthetician or an RN. There is a doctor in the medspa as well. My appointment is with the aesthetician. I'm wondering if I should reschedule with the RN for this procedure or if it's safe to go ahead and have the aesthetician do it. Thanks.
Hi Christy. In California, laser procedures cannot be performed by an aesthetician. It's required to have a medical license of RN or higher to perform the treatments.
Also, the Pixel treatment is considered an ablative treatment and can have serious side effects if not done correctly. If we were in your shoes, we would go to the consultation first to make sure you are comfortable with this office and that they know their stuff and are performing the procedures legally. It's not the type of procedure we would normally see associated with a Groupon type purchase.
I have severe wrinkling of my chest from sun damage. I am only 36 years old. It has progressively got worse over the past couple of years. I had 2 Pixel Laser Treatments last year about this time. It seemed to have "softened" the lines but they seem to be back worse than ever now. Should I continue with the Pixel and receive more treatments? or do you have another suggestion....
I have used the Pixel laser to treat sun damage and wrinkles of the upper chest and neck with excellent results. The more severe the sun damage and wrinkling to begin with, the more treatments you need. 2 treatments would not be enough for severe sun damage. I recommend doing a series of treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart, and sun protection before and after treatments. A good skin care product is also very helpful in maintaining your results. One product which is great for this is NIA 24 Sun Damage Repair for Decolletage & Hands (available in plastic surgeons offices). Good luck!
I had Pixel, IPL and Yag laser done to my face. I started to notice these weird markings on my cheeks and forehead. I had a biopsy done and it showed a small sign of Rosacea.
I do not have any type of red rash on my face at all. I'm only 34 years old. I've been to two dermatologist and the second one did the biopsy, but there was really no answers. My plastic surgeon said radio frequency laser's can cause problems with your skin.
Is there any type of skin care doctor that would know more about what's causing the problems?
It is not uncommon for laser patients to experience hyperemia after treatment. However, there is no evidence to date that specifies a causal link between lasers and rosacea. If you have pre-existing rosacea, this may be the cause of the current redness.
