I had my first rhinoplasty in 2016 with a reputable but old school surgeon in Newport. My result was a better nose, but it still bothered me quite a bit. It was still bigger than average, droopy tip, and slightly crooked. I went back to the surgeon and he told me that I couldn’t make it any better. I was disappointed and decided I’d do a revision with someone else. I saw Dr. Motykie’s work on Instagram, sent in photos for a quote, and was able to book for 5 or 6 months out I believe. In person, he listened to what I wanted, made sure my expectations were reasonable, and even talked me out of adding on a surgery I didn’t need. Overall great pre op experience. I am now almost 2 years post op and I LOVE my nose. I work in medical aesthetics and constantly have clients tell me they want their nose to look like mine. Could not be happier. I’m constantly getting compliments and thinking about how I need to write him a great review for changing my face for the better- just finally doing it. I wish I had found him before my first rhinoplasty, but so glad I was able to have him do a revision. Would (and do) recommend him to anyone wanting a perfect nose.
Long overdue review. I was terrified of getting facial surgery as didn't want anything too drastic. I went to several doctors for consultations, and many said they wouldn't even do the fat graft. At age 35 I started to lose a lot of collagen and was getting too many fillers. To cut a long story short Dr Motykie did an amazing job, he is a pro at fat grafting. He did listen to me and was very patient. The only thing I would bear in mind is that if you are going to do fat grafting you will need a good month to recover and look normal (i did feel like an alien at first as my face was super puffy) so just do not plan on having any surgery before any big events. Super happy i found Dr Motykie ! I got facial fat grafting and rhinoplasty and am super happy with both!
In 2020, I began my second search for a revision. I saw another review on here of a nose Motykie corrected (since was removed) that was a very similar case to myself. I went in for a revision with another doctor who was suppose to be a revision specialist. I came out with a nose that resembled one of the seven dwarfs from snow white. I was WAY over grafted. I was left in such terrible shape by this doctor, I also developed a serious infection 3 days after surgery. My experience was so extremely traumatizing, I was terrified to have another surgery. Thankfully, I was encouraged to do so, to move forward and regain my life again. This review will be extremely honest, as I have searched these boards and many others for countless hours to find my doctor. MY NOSE: I had a 1 CM septal perforation created by my previous doctor, previously had a huge infection that required a drain. created added scar tissue, delicate skin. I was way over grafted and my cartilage was twisted in my tip, my right side had collapsed. DR. MOTYKIE: Polite, reserved, listened OFFICE: Wait times are a bit crazy, they are busy. The front desk staff was okay, maybe not professional at all times. Its Sunset Blvd and a plastic surgery office, they make reality tv about this stuff for a reason. Overall, everyone was nice. DAY OF SURGERY: Exceptional, I felt taken care of. I felt like I spent the price I spent for my surgery. The nurse was so caring and everyone was reassuring. I was so terrified. THE SURGERY: Dr. Motykie only performs closed rhinoplasty. This was not ideal for me to get my desired nose, but I knew it was less traumatizing to the nose. After everything I went through, I felt it was the best option for my case. Most doctors turned me down because of my perforation, it’s a risk. I was so grateful Dr. Motykie was willing to take on my case, he was confident he could avoid the area completely. He did, he left the perforation alone, my nose feels stable. If anything changes in the future, I will update. HEALING: Okay, what you expect. The team was super responsive if I had a concern and again, I felt taken care of. RESULTS: He greatly improved my situation, in fact, he gave me my life back. My swelling was extreme, like CRAZY. The second the cast came off, my nose blew up like 5x the size. I was shocked! I drank lots and lots of water. My nose went through a lot of trauma only one year prior and I’m 16 months out and still the nose changes. THE SWELLING IS REAL, you have to be strong and have to prepare for it if you do a revision. NOW: The appearance is not my desired absolute perfect nose I’ve been seeking all my life. But after what I went through and the nose I was born with and the last one I was given, it’s a 8 out of 10. Ultimately, I knew my aesthetic was different then Motykie’s and that I wasn’t going to be fully satisfied. I like a long skinny nose, this one is very short and wider than I like. There wasn't a lot to work with as well, if we are being fair. Every doctor has a style, make sure you study them carefully and be sure you love his style. In my case, I liked his style, not love. But over what I had, I would have taken it immediately. I’m learning to love this nose and I don’t regret my choice in going to him. I’m done seeking perfection in my nose, I’m grateful I still have one in all honesty and I’m grateful to Dr. Motykie. I mean it when I say Dr. Motykie gave me my life back. I was extremely depressed, I was insecure, it was very difficult going through a botch plastic surgery. I'm happy to be back from the darkness. Photos soon to follow, bless you all going through this difficult and painful journey of Revision Rhinoplasty Updated on 10 Sep 2022: Today was the second day I've taken my mask off at work (were a little behind). I was so nervous because of my nose. A girl told me today " I know this is really weird to say, but I love your nose. " I almost hugged her, after everything I've been through, I'm so happy. Thank you so much Dr. Motykie for everything! Updated on 3 Jan 2023: I’m falling more and more in love with my nose and my face. I’ve received so many compliments and my insecurity level has improved. It’s almost hard to even remember I went through the nightmare of my botch surgery. When I see a photo, I have PTSD. For those out there suffering, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
LOVE my results. They're subtle but noticeable and beautifying, just what I asked for. My jawline is snatched at and even on bad swelling days where I sleep on my face, it's still sooo much sharper and more refined than before. I recommend jawline lipo to anyone considering, it really does make a difference. I didn't have a big double chin by any standards but Dr. M still sucked 80 cc's of fat out. Pictures are your friend. Take tons before, with every expression, at every angle, in every lighting. And videos. Healing and even after healing, your faulty memory and insatiable human insecurity will make you find post-op imperfections, or finding a great before selfie may make you wonder "did I really need this?" Seeing what you truly looked like, without makeup, perfect angles/lighting/picture will bring reassurance and peace of mind that you do love your after results! With lipo especially, gentle massage is your friend. It will feel weird and numb. Power through, relax, perhaps have a family member around you help you out and distract you, and don't look in the mirror a ton and obsess over what you look like while healing--unless you already see and love your results of course! You WILL look crazy. It is okay. Doctors will warn you of this but rationality flies out the window when it's happening in real time on your face. Healing is as psychological as it is physical. Patience and positive self talk are extremely important. Trust yourself that you saved up, did your research, mulled over this a lot, and now you must go through the necessary healing phase. Cost: Nostril reduction (he also did minor tip refinement while in there) was 6k and lipo was 3k. These fees each include a $500 discount for doing multiple procedures. Anesthesia and facility fees brought the total to 12k. Wouldn't go to someone else cheaper if I had a do-over; I love my results and you don't mess around with your face. Revision is doubly expensive and takes a huge mental toll. Don't skimp. The you Dr. M and staff, again! I was overall cry confident and loved myself before, and now I love myself equally, but without looking in the reflection and having my attention drawn to little things that bother me each time! I'm so happy with my results and had a great experience.
I don't usually write reviews, but I relied quite a bit on reviews during my decision making process and I hope to give back in the same way. I researched and met with some of the best surgeons for almost 2 years and kept landing on Dr. Gary Motykie for my Rhino Revision. I had my surgery 4 days ago and I hope to share pics with you along the way. I had a rhino revision, mini facelift, and fat transfer. Dr. Motykie also lifted my brows (cat eye.) Updated on 13 Mar 2022:
My experience with Dr.Motykie and all the members of his teams was excellent. I got a primary rhinoplasty about 5 months ago and felt very comfortable and safe before, during and after the surgery. I most say the surgery was completely painless for me. Can't wait to see how my nose will heal long term.
I have had an excellent experience with Dr. Motykie from the moment of my initial e-mail to now, two weeks post-op, and I am confident that any additional needs I have will be met with as much kindness, efficiency, and professionalism that I have experienced so far. I reached out to the office about scheduling a rhinoplasty at the end of January 2021. I quickly received an email back and requests for photos, I was advised that the office was receiving a lot of emails and given a time frame for when I would receive Dr. Motykie's recommendation and a morphed photo. I so appreciated that information and having my timing expectations managed so professionally. I received the recommendation, quote, and a morphed photo within that timeframe and I booked my procedure for July 2021. Dr. Motykie's office sent me all of the pre-op information including necessary tests, time frames, and financial information at this time. We also scheduled my first in person consultation for the week before my scheduled surgery. Between scheduling and the procedure I received several other packets of information, I had several interactions where my emails and questions were answered very promptly. I definitely became nervous the closer we got to the surgery, I even got a bit bogged down by some of the bad reviews floating around on the internet. I told myself that I would go to my consultation and go with my gut... I had a great experience with Colleen at the front desk and the nurse, Shegell, who did my initial intake and photos. Both women spoke very highly of Dr. Motykie in response to my anxious chatter and questions and were incredibly kind and professional. Upon meeting Dr. Motykie, my fears were soothed and instantly replaced with excitement. He is confident, kind, and gave me every opportunity to ask questions and to talk about what my goals were for my nose. He had a great presence in the room that did not make me feel intimidated or uncertain in the slightest. My ambitions for my rhinoplasty were not in pursuit of a dream nose or a particular celebrity's look, I told him that I wanted to look like myself.. but with a better nose! I listed my concerns of a slightly bulbous and uneven tip, crooked septum, and wide/angled bridge. He actually told me my septum was deviated which I was never even aware! We discussed my worries about being too aggressive and I felt assured and validated about my desire to lean more toward conservative approach and a nose that was tailored to my features, not necessarily the 'perfect' nose, but the perfect nose for me! This is my first foray into elective/cosmetic surgery and I did a lot of work on my own to manage my expectations. And I do feel that reminding myself that I didn't want a mold of someone else's nose on my face, that my current nose was imperfect and I'd lived with it for 32 years. That whatever my results were, if I trusted that my surgeon would do the best work he could for me, I would accept with human imperfection. Dr. Motykie, as esteemed and talented as he is, cannot guarantee the exact results I would have, but after meeting him, I trusted that he would do his utmost to give me the results I was hoping for. I met with Diana afterward to discuss and take care of financials. Diana was equally reassuring and transparent in response to my questions. She is extremely professional and I felt again reassured about working with this office and doctor. My husband had dropped me off for my consultation knowing that I was terrified and almost on the cusp of backing out, he picked me up and I was effusively excited about the upcoming surgery and calm about my decision to go with Dr. Motykie. I am now two-weeks post-op and am so far loving my results and am optimistic and excited to see the gradual changes as the swelling continues to go down and things shift. Dr. Motykie of course told me that things would continue to changed and settle but I felt effusive about the small changes I could already see the moment the splint was removed. Honestly, I bet there are people who are very close to me that would not know I had had my nose done if I didn't tell them, it feels seamlessly like myself but without the things that have bothered me my whole life. I already like my face in photos from more angles! This nose job was for me, and I'll tell you that already at this point, I am so incredibly happy that I made this investment in myself.
Dr Gary Motykie Plastic Surgery is located in West Hollywood CA. Dr Motykie and I met in 2016. My first rhinoplasty was very conservative. Dr Motykie listened to every word I said and he did exactly as I asked. Fast forward 5 years later and I scheduled a revision rhinoplasty. I couldn’t be happier. He made my face much more appealing. I have far more admirers now than ever before. I feel like a supermodel when I go out in public. I can take photos without smiling and still look amazing- just like models! I am in love with his work and he and I are planning some more procedures to continue making my face absolutely perfect. He makes dreams come true.
I had facial fat atrophy, deviated septum, bulbous tip and post pregnancy weight that just won’t leave. Dr motykie is literally a miracle worker. He listened to all of my concerns and completely understood what I wanted EXACTLY! I’m 9 days post op so I will continue to post more as I heal. After surgery I had no pain on my face or nose at all! So far I’m soo happy with my results. My nose looks so natural like i was born with it. My cheeks are so beautiful and full, I finally look like my twin sister! I look years younger. He gave me my confidence back. His staff is absolutely amazing as well. I highly recommend drmotykie Updated on 18 Jun 2021: Some photos of me at 9days post op. Very happy with my results so far. Super excited to see how everything will look in 6 months. I still have swelling , been taking arnica daily and drinking 3.7 liters of water. Updated on 5 Oct 2021: Loving my results so far. I’m 4 months post op and still have a long way of healing but so far everything is great and the fat hasn’t really left. I do plan on getting another round of fat in the the future. I had a dorsal hump which was exacerbated by an orthodontic palatal expander I had as a child. I did not want the dorsal hump any longer and I wanted more of a straight or curved bridge with less of a droopy tip.
Vanquish ME treatments can be performed once every three days but we recommend getting only one treatment a week. Additional treatments will not necessarily produce better results so it’s best to be patient and follow the recommended treatment schedule, regardless of the area being treated.
Without any photos, it is difficult to determine whether microneedling alone will be enough to correct surgical scarring on the face. Scars require special techniques and timing treatment is critical to successfully lightening and erasing scars. You might be a good candidate for microneedling with PRP which helps stimulate collagen production and smooth out scars. Microneedling with PRP has proven to be an effective scar treatment.
Exilis Elite is a powerful fat reduction and skin tightening treatment that works at a deeper level than other body contouring treatments. It is especially effective for treating stubborn abdominal fat that many women accumulate, even with diet and exercise. The treatment is delivered to the superficial layer only so it will not affect any tissues below the muscles. You can undergo treatment even if you haven’t had children yet. It’s important to keep in mind that when you gain weight during pregnancy, the results may be compromised.
PRP combined with microneedling can be effective for breaking up hyperpigmentation and dark spots. However, the process can take time as it takes several weeks for the skin to heal and start regenerating after a PRP microneedling session. If you have significant hyperpigmentation, you might be a better candidate for laser skin resurfacing combined with PRP and/or microneedling. A consultation with a laser and skin specialist can help you make an informed decision.
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is the yellow part of the blood. Plasma is separated from the blood using a special machine and the yellow solution is what contains a high concentration of growth factors. Concentrated PRP is especially effective for regenerating and healing tissue. We simply discard the red blood cells and only use the plasma for PRP treatments.
