Can a male who is 16 get ear lobe reduction surgery even if he is still growing. He is only maybe midpoint of puberty( late bloomer). His ears do not have deformities just above average size/
At the age of 16 the ears are essentially fully grown and developed, so medically speaking, it should be fine. If there's any question about his growth I would wait a year or so. He and/or you may feel differently about the ear lobe if he grows more in the near future. That being said, ear lobe reduction is done with relative easy in the right hands.

What was your recovery time after an otoplasty? How long did it take to heal from the ear surgery?
Otoplasty typically requires about 7 to 10 days for a full recover and even after this period there is some mild residual swelling that will resolve more slowly. Healing can depend on how large the surgery was. If it's simply a matter of making the upper half an ear appear less cupped, you're looking at around a week. If the entire ear needs to be set back and a cupped or lopped ear set back as well you're looking more at 10 days. Your physical activity with contact sports will be limited for about 2 to 3 weeks. The first 24 hours after surgery you will have a larger dressing over your ear and for the next 3 to 7 days you may be wearing a garment over your ears. The incisions behind the ear heal quickly and the suture are out in 7 to 8 days, sometimes sooner.
This surgery can be performed under local anesthesia and the pain afterwards rarely requires more than tylenol or motrin. If you do have significant pain, call your doctor.

I want a revision otoplasty as my original several years ago was undercorrected / relapsed. How do I choose a qualified surgeon? I met with a national expert on facial plastic surgery who has been around for decades and written many books and articles. He assured me he has done many of these operations over the years and had about a 1/2 dozen B&As to share. I liked his work but wonder if it's critical to choose a doctor who specializes only in ears to perform my case as it is a revision. Thanks!
Not sure where you are located Fas12, but some of the very best that I know personally are in California. Burt Brent, MD does nothing but ears and has for decades. I know Dr. Mabrie in San Fran does a lot. What you want to see is the evidence. Who's got the photos and specifically, who has examples of revision work. I enjoy otoplasty very much and it's a significant part of my practice. You may find it hard to locate a surgeon who super specializes in otoplasty.
Best of luck
