What is the Truth About the Benelli Lift/areola Reduction? Does It Make Areola Stretch More?

Every surgeon says something different. I'd like to know if the areola stretch or become larger or not after a benelli lift/areola reduction. Some say yes others say no, so which one is it? Also, is the stitch from that surgery visible under clothes when not wearing a bra?? Thanks a lot.

A: Benelli mastopexy issues

Intuitively and in practice, in my opinion, the Benelli approach is rarely prudent - sacrificing shape to minimize the total length of the scars. This is rarely a good trade off. The breast shape with this approach is more blunted and flat versus a more natural conical shape. Furthermore, there is either stretching of the areola with time and/or problems associated with the permanent sutures employed to prevent this from happening in the first place.

A: The benelli or purse-string mastopexy works well when used properly

Hello,

The Benelli/purse-string mastopexy is really designed to reduce the areola diameter or to move the areola a very small distance approximately 1-2 cm.  How the procedure is performed and which patients are selected to undergo it is the key to how well it will work and look.  There are disaster purse-string mastopexy results and then there are routinely excellent results.  Take a look at your plastic surgeons before and after results and ask lots of questions.

All the best,

What Degree of Ptosis Am I? Minor, Moderate or Severe? What Technique Is Best For Me? (photo)

I decided to get a breast lift. Although, I have not been seen by a plastic surgeon as of yet. I will be making an appointment as soon as possible. However, I have a few questions. Will a lift help with stretch marks? Which technique will serve me best, Perareolar, Circumareolar, Vertical or Anchor? What's the average cost? Will I go down in bra size? I am 38 years of age with no children. 135 pounds at 5'1 and my bra size is 38D. All opinion will be appreciated. Thanks

A: Full breast lift required

Your photos are quite helpful but they won't replace the need for a consultation to obtain the most accurate recommendations. Given the extent of your drooping, anything short of an anchor shaped scar will not truly provide you with the most desirable shape.

The lift will not improve the decreased elasticity of your skin though some of the stretch marks will be removed with the skin contouring and excision.

Costs would depend on multiple factors including specific doctor, area and facility.
