Why Isn't the Contour Thread Lift Available Any More?

I had the contour thread lift about 3 yrs ago, and just heard that procedure is no longer done. What's happening? I was at my dermetologist yesterday and they said "Oh, lots of problems with the threads," and that class action lawsuits had been filed. I would like to be brought up to date on this action and reasons for it.

A: Contour threads weren't profitable for the manufacturer

Contour threads were a reasonable alternative to facelift for a segment of the population.  However, the manufacturer was sold and then stopped marketing them.  This might have resulted from litigation because the threads were available to any physician who was willing to purchase them, not board certified plastic surgeons but I was told that they also weren't profitable.

Are Contour Thread Lifts Permanent?

I've read that Contour Thread Lifts are both permanent and temporary; which is it?

A: Are Contour threads permanent or temporary...

With all plastic surgery procedures, no result lasts forever.  The results of a thread lift should last on average for 3-5 years as you continue to age.  If needed at that time your surgeon can always add a few more threads to freshen the results.  The threads themselves, however, are permanent sutures that are placed subcutaneously.  The body grows collagen around the threads so you don't even know they are there.  These threads are used for the cheeks primarily.  Make sure your surgeon has significant experience with the threads as they need to be placed a certain way to achieve these results.
