I have been considering a rhinoplasty for the past ten years, and finally have the means (and the bravery!) to go for it. As such, I'm ready to do it as soon as possible. How long does it typically take between the initial consult and the surgery? I'm in the process of scheduling consults with docs the second week of December, but would really love to have my surgery before Christmas so that I'll have the holidays to recover. Too rushed?
The process of scheduling surgery always has to start with an evaluation by a Plastic Surgeon to determine your suitability for having surgery- do you have a realistic expectation, can the results you may want be obtained, does the surgeon feel that he or she can produce the desired results, etc. The next step would be for you to schedule an appointment as soon as you can get one with a qualified and reputable Plastic Surgeon. Thereafter the scheduling process would follow along with the individual time table for you and the surgeon.
Good luck. I would recommend that you start the process as soon as possible.

Is a celebrity nose job going to be better because they're famous and can afford perfection?
The last time I looked critically at one of my "celebrity patients" and compared them to the rest of us for facial structure and proportion, there was no difference! We all want the same thing from our surgeries, and the surgical skills offered by good quality Plastic Surgeons are consistently good if competant surgeons are consulted. There is no substitute for experience in performing any type of surgery, and oftentimes celebrities will be steered to successfull and skilled Plastic Surgeons for surgical improvements. Be a" celebrity" when you research surgeons. Look at their training and certification critically, and always ask to see results and possibly even ask to talk to a patient or two. Surgical excellence may be more expensive and costly, but don't be fooled to respond to price alone. Charging a higher price does not guarantee quality or experience.
Good luck. Frank Rieger M.D.
