First off, I want to thank all of you for your time. Anyway, I am 1 week out from being 6 months post-op TT/MR. I saw my Dr. last week and he said that it is safe to push it during exercise now. I have been exercising since 4 weeks post-op. I do crossfit and 2 days ago we did an abs intense workout and now I am EXTREMELY sore. How likely is it that I ruined the MR and how would I know? I called my DR. and he said to take ibuprofen and call back Monday if the pain was still extreme. Thanks again.
At 6 months, your muscle repair is as healed. There really should be no restrictions for working out. Signs or symptoms of a "busted" repair are bulging of the middle abdomen. Pain after an intensive abdominal workout is more of an indication of the deconditioned state of your rectus muscles than it is the integrity of the plication.
I am 3 months post-tummy tuck (and upper chest skin excision) and while I am "happy" with my results for the most part, I feel like there is more that could have been done. Maybe I have unrealistic expectations? Maybe I just need to lose more weight (this was done after a 90lb weight loss). Would you advise me to be satisfied or pursue further revisions or additional procedures? Thank you!
Overall, you have a very nice result. You haven't mentioned what your expectations were, but realize that surgery can only do so much. If you are not at your ideal body weight, then further weight loss can help with your overall figure. However, you may need revisional surgery to correct any laxity that occurs. It is not uncommon for a prospective patient to bring photos of models into the office and say, "I want to look like that." Unfortunately, many people don't realize that achieving body types such as those of models in magazines requires strict adherence to years of healthy eating and frequent (often strenuous) exercise. A lap-band and a knife are poor substitutes for healthy and active lifestyles.
I have been exercising but not until recently. Being diabetic, the recovery from the tt and lipo has been slow and long.
Stretch marks are simply scars in the deep skin caused by rapid expansion of the skin. Unfortunately, the only cure for stretch marks is surgical removal. The most common cause for women is pregnancy. After a tummy tuck, some swelling occurs and this can at times mask the appearance of stretch marks only to have them "reappear" after the swelling subsides.
