Abdominoplasty

My goals in an abdominoplasty procedure are to restore the natural contour of the abdominal wall by reconstructing the rectus muscle (six pack muscle), removing the excess abdominal skin, orienting the incision low within the bikini line and creating a naturally shaped well positioned belly button. Along with this I like to contour the flanks, upper back and sacral area with liposuction so that the entire 3 Dimensional Frame is sculpted. I think it is crucial to elevate to pubic region so that it does not appear redundant and has a natural contour that blends with the tummy tuck. I perform nerve blocks to the abdominal region with Exparel that provides pain relieve for 72 hours after the surgery. The combination of these maneuvers creates a natural shape so that patients feel comfortable in clothing or a 2 piece bikini avoiding the stigma that makes it appear like they had a surgical procedure.
