Suffer from chronic dry eyes for last 5 years and diagnosis includes - lagophthalmos, exposure keratitis , incomplete blinking & eyelid retraction. Oculoplastic surgeon performed lower punctal cautery in 2009 on Both eyes & ingrown eyelash electrolysis treatment on the Left eye in 2010. Now another expert doctor suggested that Eyelash electrolysis and punctal cautery caused lid distortion, retraction & inflammation in my case. Is this possible? Thanks in advance!
Can these procedures distort the eyelid and cause further problems? Absolutely. Was this the case in your situation? WIthout a personal consultation it is hard to answer that question. However I would recommend getting a second opinion from a highly qualified oculoplastic surgeon. The American Society for Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery maintains a geographic directory that can help you find a highly qualified surgeon close to where you live (asoprs dot org).
There are not many friends using electrolysis. Actually, only 1 gf is still doing it. Every one else is doing laser hair removel. Is electrolysis outdated technique for hair removing?
With advancements in laser hair removal, most hair types can be treated with laser and thus electrolysis has lost popularity. Electrolysis does have application in patients with residual hair after laser hair removal, blond hair, red hair, or white hair.
I've had 4 Erbium Micro laser peels to address scarring and very "pebbly" skin on my chin, the result of electrolysis. While the laser has reduced the bumps somewhat, and the skin is more flat, the needle marks have now been exposed and I have what look like many large and unslightly pores. Can Fraxel Restore improve this condition?
Hi Jan,
Fraxel re:store may help a little with the large pores, Fraxel re:pair would help more. Recent research using intra-dermal injection of small amounts of Botox have been promising in reducing the size of pores. Good luck and be well.
