What Would You Do to Fix Areola Stretching and Uneven Nipple Heights After Vertical Breast Lift?

1st: 3/22/11, ABPS surgeon, implants only. Had DB on left & lrg. pocket let left implant fall in armpit and across chest to right side and lft nipple was 2-3 cm lower than rght Rev: 3 mo. ago: Capsulloraphy in complete U on lft & vertical lift on lft. It did not fix diff. nipple heights & areola stretched out lrg. Post Lollipop lift, would Benelli now lift left nipple & tighten? And how to prevent areola stretching this time? PS says no permanant sutures there. Am willing to travel to good PS

A: Revision Breast Augmentation/Mastopexy Options?

Thank you for the question and pictures.

Further areola reduction surgery can be performed using permanent sutures to help prevent repeat spreading of the areola. Of course, permanent sutures have their own potential downsides including palpability,  risk of infection, and occasionally a tight ring like feeling ( and subsequent “puffy” appearance of the areola).

However, considering your history and pictures,  this may be your best option.

In-person examination will be necessary to give you precise advice.

Best wishes.

Is It Possible That Surgery for Areola Size Reduction Give You Mild Ezcema?

I really don't understand what's happening. Had the areola of my left breast reduced. Two months post surgery the areola started to have very small openings and after two days will form a crust. Thought it was my body healing. These small openings kept on coming. I went to see my surgeon and he said that I have ezcema on the areola. I never had any ezcema problem before. He gave me an ointmemt: Cicaplast B5 to be applied 2 times for one month. Can my ezcema be linked to my surgery? What to do?

A: Areola Reduction Surgery and Eczema?

I'm sorry to hear about the problems you have had after your areola reduction surgery.

There are a variety of different reasons to experience the “small openings and crust” around the incision line after areola reduction. For example, you may have an allergy ( this can be seen with  surgical glue  placed along incision lines).  You may also be having a reaction to sutures used for closure ( for example this may be related to a permanent suture that was used to prevent spreading of the areola).

Making the correct diagnosis of the cause of your problem is very important;  don't hesitate to ask your plastic surgeon what the other causes could be  etc.  This can be done in a polite and calm fashion.

If your issue does not improve with time and present treatment a second opinion ( for example by a dermatologist)  may be helpful.

Best wishes

Repeating Nipple Surgery After Having Children?

I have huge areolas which are causing my breasts to sag. I am not sure if I want to have children and I know that if I do, it will have negative effect on my breast. But I was wondering, can nipple surgery be repeated again after I am done having children?

A: Breast Lifting Candidate?

It sounds like you have breast ptosis (sagging) and that breast lifting may be indicated. The type of surgery that may help you will depend on your physical examination. Seek consultation with a well experienced board-certified plastic surgeon.

Yes, it is possible that further breast lifting and/or other types of breast surgery may be necessary after pregnancy.

Best wishes.
