Today marks my 5th day post-op and I am very pleased with how everything looks so far! Today's also the first day where I feel OK. I've switched over to Tylenol, the crazy bloating is almost gone, and this is the most "mobile" I've felt all week. The tightness and soreness don't bother me as much and I can pull my shoulders back with more ease, holding myself up straighter as I go about my day. I still think I went with the right size for me. I wanted a natural-looking enhancement, something proportional that would work with my active lifestyle, and I feel like Dr. Kearney 100% understood and delivered. Updated on 22 Sep 2023: The incisions look better than anything I was imagining tbh. They're thin, fine lines. I'm now applying Biocorneum, a silicone scar gel, twice a day as instructed. I was concerned about my left side because they had to reopen the incision after I woke up from surgery to drain some swelling and cauterize the blood vessel that was causing it. I thought maybe that would have the left incision looking gnarlier than the right but I'm ecstatic to see there's no noticeable difference! Looking back, I'm really impressed with how that situation was handled. Nurse Becky having noticed the unusual post-op swelling and then Dr. Kearney reacting calmly yet swiftly to fix it. Apparently it's very rare that something like this happens but unlucky as I was that it happened to me, I was lucky to be in skilled hands. Anyway, boobs are looking and feeling great today. In this update photo you can really see the difference in how they're dropping. Left side is still tighter, she's moving at her own pace and that's ok. I've been massaging them daily. After showering, I lotion with a hyaluronic acid serum and a cream that contains centella asiatica, aka cica, to help prevent stretch marks. Overall, I'd say I'm mostly back to normal now and with every new day, I feel a bit more comfortable in the chest area than the previous. Updated on 27 Sep 2023: My breasts still feel tight but they have started to soften. My upper body, my shoulders especially, feel more relaxed. My posture is improving, I've gotten more used to carrying around the new weight on my chest. I've uploaded a picture from Day 2 (the worst day) for comparison. My left breast is obviously higher and tighter but that's been the case since the beginning. My right arm feels very comfortable to move around while my left arm is more limited in range of motion. I can't lift it as high or move it as readily without feeling my incision along with tightness in my muscles on that side. In summary, my left side looks and feels to be recovering slower than my right side and the difference is more noticeable now that the right side is more healed. My nipples are incredibly sensitive. I tried to go braless the other day but my nipples rubbing up against the fabric of my top was overly stimulating to the point of discomfort so I've been living in surgical bras. I didn't wear bras before this. For the sake of not having to think too much about bra shopping or spending too much money, I ended up buying more of the medical bra they sent me home in. I'm also still sleeping upright. I tried sleeping flat once and I didn't like how sore the sides of my breasts felt when I woke up. The wedge pillow I got from amazon is memory foam and I have a maternity pillow on top of that to keep me on my back. The only time I felt some back pain was probably in the first 3-7 days of recovery, possibly from adjusting to sleeping on this setup but since then I've been sleeping comfortably on it. I can't wait to see how they'll look and feel in another two weeks! Updated on 16 Oct 2023: Went to my 1 month post-op appointment last week and I'm finally cleared to work out and sleep on my side again! They said I could go back to yoga if I wanted, getting into downward dog should be okay, but obviously if something hurts then don't do it. This is great news for me because I have gained some weight during this recovery process and I can't wait to go to my classes regularly again. Dr. Kearney examined my breasts and said everything looks good, that different drop rates is a normal thing and to keep up the massages. At this point in my recovery, I am stressing way less about my left breast dropping slower because it has improved so much. It's softer, looks and feels more relaxed. Hopefully this continues because I can't wait until the day they look even and I can push the worries of capsular contracture out of my head completely. I'm starting to enjoy my new boobs more now that they're normal-looking and don't make me feel as stiff. I also realized this week that a lot of my old wardrobe won't do. My crop tees make me look frumpy now so I did some online shopping and bought a bunch of cute tops that have a more fitted style. My next post-op is at the 3 month mark and I think I'll know by then whether this was worth it or not. I am happy so far! Updated on 19 Oct 2024: This final results photo is from this summer when I went in for a 1 year check-in with Dr. Kearney. I was concerned about the asymmetry and wondering if I had developed any complications. He assured me everything is normal and I had healed beautifully. The asymmetry was something I already had to begin with and it's now exaggerated with the augmentation and larger size. While I am happy with the larger size and relieved that I am fully healed without complications, it does feel like a bittersweet ending. I feel sexy and more confident in clothing but there will always be this slight regret where I wished I knew to expect the exaggerated asymmetry in the final result before I made my decision. It's taken time to process and accept the results of the change I made and I'm more at peace with it now.
Dr. Kearney has the skills. And honestly, that's all you really should care about. However it's a great bonus to have a wonderful beside manner. He is versatile. No push to have anything invasive if not necessary. My perceived principles of his practice would be: solid work, nothing over the top, appropriate care.
Since I was younger I've always wanted bigger boobs but the thought of the whole process always scared me. I have been to several consults since I turned 21 and was never satisfied for many reasons (which is why I never settled for any of them). After a while, I got over the thought of getting implants and decided to just "accept" my boobs for how they were. For months after, I kept going back and forth, as I continued to feel insecure about myself when I would be in my bikini, gym clothes or my fitted shirts/dresses - I finally decided to give this new surgeon a chance. After the consult, I was so happy and relieved that for once I felt like I was making the right decision. We did all of the sizing and discussed my wishes/expectations and it was all perfect. Of course the day before surgery, I was re-thinking it all but luckily my boyfriend really helped me feel better and stayed beside me through the whole process. Since getting them done, I do not regret anything and I'm 100% satisfied with how they turned out!!
Just got my breast augmentation today. Crazy to believe I actually have boobs now. Started as a 32b but I probably would fit an A better. My left breast has always been bigger so it’s still noticeable now but that’s okay because I no longer look and feel 12. I’m excited to see how they will look when they drop. I’ve slept for 4.5 hours so far today after the surgery and have only needed 1 pain pill. I took the surgical bra off because it was too tight so I’ll be getting a new one tomorrow. Dr. Kearney and all the staff were so kind with me and always tried to make me laugh to ease my nerves. I got Natrelle 335cc and 365cc smooth round soft touch. It’s hard to say how they’ll feel in a few months since I just got them but no complaints so far. I was definitely nervous about my sternum tattoo looking weird afterwards but I think it still looks symmetrical. My surgery was at 8am and it’s 4:30pm now. I had saltines on the ride back and a few before I fell asleep. Glad I did that to avoid the nausea from the pain meds. Overall I feel a lot better than I thought I would. I am going to try to take a progress pic every day and for anyone reading this or wondering I’m 5’6 and 126lbs age 21. Updated on 10 Sep 2019: It’s been 1 week since I got my surgery. What a rollercoaster it’s been. Some days I’d like my boobs and others I wouldn’t. This whole time I’ve been super paranoid about them not dropping or looking normal. But, I know with time they will look better. I just hope they end up being big enough. I can finally drive, well turning is still hard. I can take showers by myself, get dressed, and pretty much do normally human things, just modified. Some doors are still hard to get open. My chest definitely feels less tight but getting up after laying down is still difficult and painful, especially after I’ve been sleeping. It’s actually quite frustrating. I’m starting to gain more sensitivity in my nipples which is good. I experienced very slight bruising this week but only to where my skin turned yellow, not purple. I can still only sleep on my back which is super annoying since I’m a side sleeper. The bra I was given is really tight so I haven’t been wearing it. I should probably buy a bigger one from target but I’m lazy. #freethenipple. Updated on 17 Sep 2019: Week 2 has been the best so far. All of the slight bruising has gone, got my stitches out, and it's so much easier to get in and out of bed. I tried shopping the other day and that was still difficult has it still isn't completely comfortable to put my hands over my head. I feel a lot more confident this week. I tried sleeping on my side a few times but it wasn't 100% comfortable. I still don't have full nipple sensation yet but it has improved. My left, (right in the photos) is dropping and fluffing faster. But, this side was initially bigger than the other so I am not expecting them to be the same exact size. Updated on 15 Mar 2020: It's been 6 months and I really like how they turned out. My scars are hardly visible. I am able to sleep on my stomach now and have no issues with working out. I may get them bigger after I have kids but that won't be anytime soon. Updated on 10 Jul 2020: It’s been 10 months and I’ve had no issues. Very happy with the results and the new confidence I’ve gained. It feels great to no longer look like a 12 year old girl!! I highly recommend getting a breast aug to anyone that wants to feel more womanly. I am happy I didn’t wait until I was older to do this.
I had an awesome experience with Dr. Kearney and am extremely happy with my results. Everything to the office visits, surgery and post-op appointments were great. The staff has been helpful about answering my questions and making sure I was comfortable throughout the entire process. I started as a 32D pre-op. I’m 5’8 and 145 lbs so we put in 465cc silicone extra fill and its a great match for my body type.
I just had my breast lift with implants surgery yesterday. I could not have picked a better doctor for the job he was friendly and very informaive during my consult and pre op. He really takes his time to help you figure out what will look best on you. The nursing staff is amazing so caring and nice. My procedure looks amazing so far I can’t wait to see the final result. Dr karney even gave me his personal cell phone number in case I have any further questions. The surgery was done at a hospital rather than a clinic which is also a little more comforting. Dr karney is truly an amazing doctor! I will be recommending him to anyone who wants to have work done!
5 years ago today Dr. Kearney did my facial reconstruction surgery after I was assaulted. I had no insurance at the time and he saw me on Columbus day. After he reviewed my CT scan and did some preliminary assessments he determined that my case was so severe that if we did not act immediately I would have long term damage to my facial nerves and structure. He pulled some strings and got me in that night and added me as the last patient after a long day of surgery. I think my surgery was started around 11:50pm... The surgery was a success and I can say with 100% certainty that had we not gone with Dr. Kearney I would be living a very different life today. In addition to the generic cosmetic surgery he does, he is also a Cranio-Facial Specialist and literally one of the few in all of southern California. He is also a miracle worker as my face was so damaged from the assault, there was literally no structure left behind on my right side and he made me whole again. No one would know that I had facial reconstruction thanks to this man's work and he is very humble about it. His bedside manner is excellent and he instills a confidence that (in my case was sorely needed) is second to none. You will NOT be disappointed. If he can rebuild my face from nothing on one side to normal... I imagine everything else you could want or need would be a piece of cake. I cannot recommend or thank this man enough. Thank you Dr. Kearney you definitely saved my life as I knew it.
I have been looking into hair transplant for several years and found comfort in Dr. Kearney's office. When meeting with Dr. Kearney and his nurse practitioner, Shannon, it was obvious that they were very knowledgeable about hair transplant and the Neograft technology. They made me feel very comfortable and were extremely personable and he took a lot of time with me explaining the process of Neograft hair transplant procedure. His office staff was also very warm and welcoming. I traveled from Northern California to have the surgery, so Katie helped me with hotel recommendations. Dr. Kearney's nurse practitioner, Shannon, greeted me the morning of surgery and she was with me the entire day. The surgery staff was very considerate and made sure I was comfortable for the entire procedure. I was slightly medicated, but awake for the surgery and I was even able to have lunch and watch my ipad movies for the last part of the day. I felt no pain other than the numbing injections. It was surprising an easy surgery for me, if I had known; I would have done it much sooner. I had my surgery 9 days before my son's wedding and nobody suspected what I had done. I chose to shave my entire head the morning of, so that it wouldn't look too obvious. I only had 3 days off from work and didn't want anyone to know what I had done. At my sons wedding my family just thought I had a buzz haircut. My hair shed at about 3 weeks after the surgery and I am now several months out and my hair is growing in nicely. I am thrilled and cannot wait to have my full results. It looks so natural I can hardly believe it. Dr. Kearney has explained to me that the full results take about 8-12 months and I cannot wait!! I highly recommend Dr. Kearney and his staff, they were all amazing!
Today was my big day and I am over the moon! Like most here, I cannot believe I waited so long for my breasts. I went back and forth for 20 years until I finally was sick and tired of succumbing to other people's opinions and societies narrow mindedness. I am feeling little pain and my breasts are beautiful. Plus they are only going to get better as the weeks and months go by!!! Like my title states, I received the Sientra teardrop oval shaped textured silicone implants under the muscle. Updated on 7 Dec 2016: I FINALLY got them done!!!! Yay!!! Dr. Kearney is the bomb!!!!! I am in a little pain right now but on norco 325mg. I am sooo happy that I don't look like a freak. I have been rubbing arnica cream in them so I don't bruise and it seems to be working . I apologize for the repeat pics but I can't delete any . Updated on 9 Dec 2016: I am still pretty swollen and bruised. I am hoping the pain will subside soon as well as my muscles relaxing so the breasts look more normal. They seem very odd to me at this point. Logically I know they turned out quite well but another side of me says: Whoa, what the hell did you do to yourself. Updated on 5 Jan 2017: I am still a little sore and my nipples are super sensitive. I am also still very happy, though.
My experience with Dr. Kearny has been one in a million. Nine years ago I had a BA consultation with another surgeon when I lived in Los Angeles... and let me tell you that he did not provide me with half the information that Dr. Kearney did. When I left my initial consultation with Dr. K, I felt that any and all of my questions were answered (without me having to ask them!) He fully covered every piece of information from head to toe... even on things that I didn't think to ask. So I REALLY appreciated that. From that instant I knew that I would definitely be doing my surgery with Dr. Kearney; and he was my first and only consult since I've relocated to San Diego. Not only is he highly informative, but his previous BA work looked stunning. He knew exactly what I was looking for when it came to size, shape, etc. I would not recommend any other surgeon besides this man. He is truly a professional and he and his entire staff do a GREAT job at helping you feel comfortable and at ease. Katie and Melissa were extremely helpful and straightforward when it came to appointments and finances. And Lacey, one of his nurses, is super sweet and informative as well. Seriously, this entire staff gets the job done! I can say in confidence that I was fully taken care of from the start of scheduling my initial consultation, up to the point of my surgery day... and beyond. In fact, surgery went SO smoothly. I couldn't have been happier with the bedside manner provided by Dr. Kearney, his caring nurses, and amazing anesthesiologist. Everyone worked together flawlessly as a team and I never once questioned their competency when it came to my safety and bedside care. I still have the healing process to go through, but I couldn't resist posting this review for anyone who may be considering this doctor for their surgery. Thank you Dr. Kearney and staff!!!
This could probably be fixed with an in office revision with some local anesthesia. Take out some skin to make it more symmetrical.
Yes in most circumstances it is a simple procedure. Speak to the PS who did your surgery as he/she will be the least expensive. Revision for liposuction is in the 5-10% range. This is normal.
Yes you can dissolve it immediately but you run the risk of more bruising. The asymmetry you have is more from bleeding than from filler put in incorrectly. I would apply topical arnica and wait a week or so. It will most likely settle down. If it does not I would get it dissolved then.
Yes. You mention that you have sagging with large areolas. Both of those problems can only be corrected with a lift. If you put in implants you will have larger sagging breasts with large areola.
I would agree with one of the other posts. You need to revise your lift to a standard lift with an anchor scar. You should also consider decreasing the size of the implants. You should consider a narrower implant of perhaps the same volume.
