Vaser Lipo on 25 Year Old Male Athlete

Hi I'm 25yrs old, athlete, I'm planning to go for vaserlipo but don't know if I'm right candidate for ir.I'm 5'3 tall n 118lb,in 5years I lost 50lb n have stretch marks on my stomach n loose skin which I wan a get tightened.so is vaserlipo correct choice for me

A: VASER lipo for skin tightening

Given your description, I believe you will be disappointed in the result of VASER lipo alone. VASER may help a little in tightening the skin, but not a lot.  In fact there is nothing short of surgery that tightens the skin significantly, not VASER not laser or smart lipo.  Stretch marks mean the elastic is broken and as of yet, we have nothing to reverse that.  I do a lot of VASER and it useful in removing dense fat that is otherwise difficult to remove, or in someone who has had previous suction.  See a board certified plastic surgeon in your area and let them evaluate your skin tone and make some recommendations, but if they say the VASER will shrink the skin a lot, then move on to another.

A: Sauna after liposuction

Staying in contact with your doctor who knows your case exactly is important.

The sauna is not going to do anything to decrease your fat or have it not come back.  That is just diet and exercise and while your doctor may not have dietary advise, he or she should have some plan on when they allow you to exercise and what type of exercise.

A: Flying after liposuction.

Whether you have VASER liposuction or regular liposuction does not really matter relative to flying.  The biggest determining factor is how much suction and what type of anesthesia?

A small amount of liposuction done under local and flying is probably not an issue.  If you have any significant amount of liposuction or undergo sedation or general anesthesia then traveling becomes riskier.

As surgeons we generally worry about a couple of things relative to travel after surgery:

1. Blood clots: these are a risk of surgery and also a risk of sitting in a limited space (like and airplane).  While always a risk, it is less with very small procedures and those limited to local anesthesia.

2. Our patients not being close to us if they have a complication or need us.  The more time passes after surgery, the chances of complications decrease.
