How Much Does Botox Cost?

I am going to get my first Botox injection for frown lines, forehead lines, and crow's feet.  I don't want to get ripped off. Can a doctor please tell me - What is the best price for Botox?

A: Make sure you get your money's worth!

First, when receiving either Botox™ or Dysport™, keep your focus on the goals you want to achieve.  If your provider is skilled, then you will achieve the benefit you want without “micromanaging” the way or the amount of the product used.  It is great to ask questions.  Many patients want to only spend a certain amount of money for their treatment, and I understand this but it should not be at the cost of looking natural.  When not enough product is used, the effect  may wear off much more quickly than if a standard dose is used.  So a patient may pay 30% less but the effect is 50% less and wears off twice as fast!  Botox™/Dysport™ when dosed appropriately should last 3 to four months, but if half a dose is used then the patient should not expect the duration to be the same  An uneducated patient who had treatment with 20 units of Botox™, for example, should not expect 3 to 4 months of benefit when the average treatment dose in my experience is 30 to 35 units.  If one goes to the doctor for a sinus infection, the standard duration of antibiotics is 7 to 10 days or more.  If a patient chooses to only get 4 days of antibiotics they can’t expect to get better!
So don’t be short sighted with your Botox™/Dysport™ purchases.  Get full treatment.  Then you will get the full benefit and in the long run save yourself both money and the added time of returning an office for repeated treatments every 2 months or so.

All of that being said, our practice charges $360/area.

A: Botox Experience Surpasses Cost

"You get what you pay for " - Inexpensive botox means less experience, less results and more complications.  Look for a board certified injector to do you injections.  Many nurses and PAs are doing injections in Walk in clinics, home parties and at gyms - Beware.  I have had to correct many bad experiences with non-physicians and even some physicians (not trained in aesthetics).  Do your homework and check out your doctor.  That being said $10-$14 is usually the averag price per units and about 20-25 units per area.

How Many Botox Units for 11's or Frown Lines?

I received 20 units of Botox yesterday. Now I think I may have been cheated, he just wanted to get his $256 and the 20 units he injected were not nearly enough to get "rid" of the moderate/severe "11's" on my forehead. What is the average amount of units needed for this?

A: Botox Is Great for the Glabella "11's"

Hey, you weren't cheated !!  The recommended dose is 20 units but you should wait 10 days to judge the effectiveness of your botox.  If you do not have a great amount of "weakening" of you 11's you may want to go back and see about getting more !!!  Be carefull too much botox and be disfiguring a sure sign of having "too much done."
