Update on review: I just had my one-year follow-up, and remain so happy with the results. I recently had a facelift along with upper and lower blepharoplasty and a brow lift. I am very happy with the result. I am about 6 weeks out as I write this, and have absolutely no visible scars from the facelift, which is amazing. I am 68 years old and my recovery was quite easy. I even returned to full-time work as a professor (in front of students) in two weeks after the surgery. I always felt well-informed of the process all along the way, and in follow up appointments he and his staff have been just as attentive as my earlier consultations. Just focusing on the process and recovery, I'm very happy. What has been a bit of a revelation is the response of other people. Friends who have known me for a long time just stare and say "Wow" and "You look amazing." But, happily, no one has said I look different--the "basics" weren't altered, which is just what I wanted. I don't consider myself terribly vain, but rather wanted to look closer to the age I felt (much younger than 68!). That is what I got. The signs of aging were addressed, but I was still "me." I also feel I should comment on the pre-operative preparation. In addition to the consultation with Dr. Clymer I had great interactions with his staff. You are prepared for the surgery in general terms, but also given directions on vitamins, diet and other ways of preparing that will help healing and minimize bruising. Virtually everything I needed when I got home from surgery I was able to organize in advance. The day after surgery I received instruction on wound care and a reminder of cautions, things to watch out for, and simple strategies to speed recovery. The first day is tough (it is surgery!!) but they make sure pain is managed. By day 3 I only took Tylenol for pain. By day 5 I was ready to get out of the house, but they encouraged me to continue a relaxed recovery. Another piece of evidence about the quality of the result is the number of friends who have been curious about facelifts and who now want to learn about how to "go about it;" how much it costs, when you can get back to work, and does it hurt, etc. I even had a friend ask for before and after pictures she could send to her mom who is thinking about doing the same procedures. I'm happy to share my experience with them, and am flattered at the same time :-). I note that "knowledge" is one of the areas of rating. That's kind of hard for a layperson to address, but his academic and professional credentials speak for themselves. I very much appreciated in our initial consultation that he told me about research that had been done on the methods he uses in preparing patients and his surgical methods. I believe this is something all doctors should do to educate patients and to treat them as informed partners in the process. I felt empowered in my own recovery and how well it went. It also has given me confidence to ask questions, and know I will be taken seriously when I do.
After years of wanting a Rhinoplasty and the recommendation from my mother who saw him years ago for a facelift I finally got nerve to have the procedure done. From the consult, to the procedure, and every followup visit I have been treated with nothing but respect and care from Dr. Clymer and his staff. He truly is the best at what he done and I can't praise him enough. My nose is perfect now and looks so natural. I am so happy I chose Dr. Clymer and would recommend him time and time again to anyone looking to have anything done on their face, especially a Rhinoplasty!
I would like to tell you my story…2 years ago I opted to have a face and neck lift done by a renowned Plastic Surgeon in Nashville. He however, was not a facial Plastic Surgeon. The recovery from this was difficult with scaring left behind my ears that stayed red for months and months.I was bruised on my face and neck in a array of colors. I could not put my hair up, but had to leave it down even in the hot humid summer. This doctor did a neck lift at the same time. My neck looked wonderful, but under the chin it was not very tight. Within a year, the folds around my mouth were just as severe as they had been before my surgery. I was so disappointed as this surgery took months to recover from, and in the end I looked almost the same age as when I had done the surgery, and I was out $12,000. I was still determined to make the change in my appearance that I wanted to make. So, I did my research this time, much more extensively…and I decided to not look for a Plastic Surgeon, but for a specialist. And this is what I got when I met Dr. Clymer. Upon our first meeting , I took my daughter with me as we interviewed 3 other surgeons, all Facial Surgeons in the area. Dr. Clymer was the last one we met with. I had read his reviews about the staff and himself, and looked at all the pictures on line. They were impressive. But what I was looking for was confidence. I was looking this time for someone that listened to me, looked at me, and could see what I use to be, how that slipped away, and how he could turn back the hand of time. Not someone who said what they thought I wanted to hear. I wanted a Master. When he came into the room, the first thing he said to me was about the scarring behind my ears.He was actually irritated. He said that he doesn’t understand why they still teach Surgeons to operate this way today, and how it doesn’t need to be done like that. The scarring was very, very obvious…anyone standing next to me would know I had a facelift. Embarrassing…. he said he could ‘lift’ those scars and put them right into the hairline with no hair being shaved even.He said he could make them disappear. He felt my neck needed to be tightened more, which I wasn’t even that worried about as I was much more focused on my droopy looking mouth and jawline which looked as if I had never had a previous surgery even done. He took his time with me and really looked at me. I felt that I had lost my beauty, and now just looked old, and tired.I am 57 years old by the way. His whole countenance radiated success….as was his office, staff, right down to the car he drove ( which I saw because he pulled up next to me). I wasn’t looking for a up and coming, or a struggling surgeon, or one that does more breasts then faces…I wanted a Master that had been doing women’s faces, turning back the clock, and re-creating their natural beauty of what they once were…all the while having no one even remotely suspect they had done so.I had paid the price once, and was not about to make that error again. I booked the surgery. When it came time for the operation, the nurse who was prepping me, looked into my eyes and said, “I am going to tell you….this is the best man you could have ever chosen. He is a genius at what he does. And when I can do this, I will be using him".Dr. Clymer made sure I slept well, which I wasn’t at first, and he took care of that the first week. I had a bit of pain recovering, but nothing like my previous experience. He took care of that as well. I had very little bruising and swelling. Each week I waiting with bated breath to see what the results would be. I am now 6 months after my operation. In all honestly I can now look in the mirror, and not think…Ugh….you look tired, old and worn out. I like how I look. I feel attractive and pretty again. And in all honesty, I have to say Dr. Clymer wiped away between 10-15 years off of my face. My neck is flawless, tight and firm. I have no lines around my mouth at all.And the ‘ jowl droop’ has completely disappeared all together. My hair is continually up and I have perfect skin behind my ears without a single scar in sight. The people I associate with tell me now how I glow, and I look so good. And not one has made any comment as to if I have had anything done.I do not look like I have had a face lift… but I look like one day I woke up and decided to be 43 again. This is what I can say to you that are contemplating this type of surgery... there are many, many Plastic Surgeons. But there are very few Masters of their trade. This man works in sheer excellence. He exceeds his peers. I am a Doctor's wife…I have not only heard the stories, but I have lived the story. If you are ready to bring the balance and harmony between what you feel inside to how you look on the outside… then I can now tell you… Dr. Clymer will make that happen for you, just as he did for me. May you be blessed upon your journey.
I had a very positive experience.. and got the full boogie - face lift, brow, nose, eyes. I had a couple consults, and Dr Clymer wanted to know, and then did what I wanted, which was to still look like myself, but refreshed. Later when I looked at some of his work I thought maybe I should have let him make me look LESS like myself!Loved his demeanor, as well as his staff. I never felt rushed, dismissed, unheard but all the opposite. While I am willing to listen to a professionals educated recommendations, I had run into Dr.'s unwilling to leave out procedures I didn't want. I also felt very confident as he does faces only and is genuinely enthusiastic. As someone who was NEVER going to do anything like this, I couldn't be more pleased.
I had recently moved to the Nashville area and began the search for a rhinoplasty specialist. I had three consults in the Nashville/Brentwood/Franklin area before deciding on Dr. Clymer. I felt the most confident with Dr. Clymer because of the honest consultation he gave explaining the procedure and what expected results would look like. He reassured me that he aimed for natural results that would best fit the rest of my face. Seeing the projected image from Dr. Clymer made me much more comfortable with him compared to some of the other imaging that surgeons had done for me at previous consults. Dr. Clymer came in the pre-op room on the day of the surgery and eased all the anxieties I had by walking me through the procedure again. The week following the surgery, pain was minimal and most of the discomfort came from pressure and dryness of the throat. Fortunately, I experienced very minimal bruising. The office was great with the follow up visits I had in the first week before removing the cast at day 8. When the cast came off I was surprised by the amount of emotion I had. First, my profile had improved immensely while still looking natural. Secondly, I felt like I could finally take a fulfilling deep breath for the first time in years. I returned to work two weeks after surgery and the only ones who noticed anything different, were the ones I told I was having the surgery. Family and friends commented on how natural my nose looked. In the 8 months post-op, the Dr. Clymer and his office have continued to be extremely helpful. At every follow up appointment, Dr. Clymer is thorough in explaining exactly where I am in the healing process and what I can anticipate in the next few months. I continue to love my nose more and more as the healing continues. I never fathomed the amount of confidence I would gain. I am so glad I chose Dr. Clymer and I genuinely look forward to my follow up visits with his office. If you are considering a rhinoplasty, look no further than Dr. Clymer!
I had heard so many wonderful things about Dr. Clymer prior to my consultation for a facelift. He and his staff did not disappoint. Dr. Clymer answered every single question that I had and his staff was always available to answer any that I forgot to ask. His lovely office runs like clockwork and is so conveniently located in Coolsprings across from the mall. One year after surgery I wouldn't change a thing. I am thrilled with my results!
I can’t say enough wonderful things about Dr. Clymer and his team! I had nose surgery in February and felt so cared for from my very first consultation to every follow up appointment I have been to since! And the day before my surgery, one of his staff members called me to “just check in, make sure I felt good and to call if I needed anything.” Dr. Clymer and his team go the extra mile and it makes all the difference. Dr. Clymer was so attentive during my consultation and took the time to go over every detail. He made sure I knew that he was a perfectionist and during surgery would take all the time he needed to make sure my nose was just right. You can’t see a single scar and my nose looks like me - just straighter!! :) Since my surgery, I have been to a handful of follow up appointments and each time everyone is so nice and professional. I can’t recommend Dr. Clymer enough!
I Couldn’t have asked for a more professional and lovely experience with Dr Clymer and his office staff and surgery team. After going to Dr Clymer for a few years for some fillers and Botox, At 52 I was at the age where things needed actually lifting where fillers wouldn’t suffice any longer to address my concerns. I had pretty much lost my jawline and was looking more and more like my grandmothers profile. After a very informative consult, It was decided a lower facelift would be the best plan to achieve my jawline again. Not only do I have my jawline back but my cheekbones are where they used to be as well. It is all beyond my expectations and has literally given me my face back. He is masterfully skilled and I am so so very thrilled I did this for myself and so grateful to have found Dr Clymer.
I was newer to the Franklin/Nashville area, so I spoke with 4 other Surgeons in the area to get a feel. Once I spoke with Dr.Clymer and his warm and professional staff, I knew this was IT! This team is unreal. From the moment you walk in to the office you feel as though you’re their only patient and receive their undivided attention. Dr. Clymer is so kind, makes you feel so comfortable and takes his time to really listen to what you want. I never felt rushed. I’m a tough critic and I honestly give Dr. Clymer and his magnificent team a 5 out of 5 stars. :) I’m beyond happy with my results!
I began my search for a plastic surgeon by asking several of my doctors, nurses and clinicians that I see on the regular and ALL of them, including our veterinarian referred me to the BEST doctor in town for facial plastic surgery "Dr. Mark Clymer". So naturally, I made two consults with two other "not" mentioned doctors and then I saw Dr. Clymer...why did I even waist my time at the other two doctors? I knew within the first ten minutes of our consult that this confident, knowledgable and highly recommend Dr Clymer was going to be my choice! He is passionate about his skills as a surgical artist, as he should be, I will use this most "overused" word to describe him, but it fits...he is "AMAZING"!!! During my consult, he was very patient, described in detail the surgery, my options, answered all of my questions; some of them twice... When I left that day, I felt happy and confident in my decision not only to move forward with my surgery, but to have chosen Dr Clymer as my surgeon. Dr. Clymer did a revision rhinoplasty for me. Several years ago, (and with another surgeon) I had a rhinoplasty procedure to restore my breathing, however the previous doctor left me with (to say the least) "a less than desirable appearance"...Dr. Clymer, not only preserved my breathing, but he reconstructed me a beautiful nose, with a result that he was confident he could give me and he absolutely DID! When the cast came off and I saw the beautiful result, I cried happy tears all the way home that day, and still marvel at the results. Recently, my nose was referred to as "pretty", in all my fifty years I have never heard these words about my nose...Thank you Dr. Clymer!!! I also chose to have the endoscopic forehead lift, my eyelids were drooping enough to make me look permanently tired and old, but I also inherited my parents "hooded look" and although my vision wasn't directly impacted at the time of surgery my Ophthalmologist told me that it was only a matter of time and since I was interested and already going under anesthesia for my nose, I made the decision to do this procedure as well. I will say, I am SO HAPPY I chose to do this, Dr. Clymer made it clear that he produces a a very natural result and he certainly did! I love my results, choosing Dr. Clymer for these surgeries was the right decision for me and I of course highly recommend him to anyone looking for a professional, passionate, skilled surgeon to perform the art of facial surgery and are looking for "natural" beautiful results! I can not end this review without complementing Dr. Clymer's professional and friendly staff, they are all beyond amazing, caring and truly seem to love working not only with their patients, but with Dr. Clymer as well, they all clearly love what they do and it shows. I felt well taken care of after my surgery and at all of my subsequent visits! THANK YOU Dr. Clymer and his staff for taking wonderful care of me before, during and after my surgery!
First, when receiving either Botox™ or Dysport™, keep your focus on the goals you want to achieve. If your provider is skilled, then you will achieve the benefit you want without “micromanaging” the way or the amount of the product used. It is great to ask questions. Many patients want to only spend a certain amount of money for their treatment, and I understand this but it should not be at the cost of looking natural. When not enough product is used, the effect may wear off much more quickly than if a standard dose is used. So a patient may pay 30% less but the effect is 50% less and wears off twice as fast! Botox™/Dysport™ when dosed appropriately should last 3 to four months, but if half a dose is used then the patient should not expect the duration to be the same An uneducated patient who had treatment with 20 units of Botox™, for example, should not expect 3 to 4 months of benefit when the average treatment dose in my experience is 30 to 35 units. If one goes to the doctor for a sinus infection, the standard duration of antibiotics is 7 to 10 days or more. If a patient chooses to only get 4 days of antibiotics they can’t expect to get better! So don’t be short sighted with your Botox™/Dysport™ purchases. Get full treatment. Then you will get the full benefit and in the long run save yourself both money and the added time of returning an office for repeated treatments every 2 months or so. All of that being said, our practice charges $360/area.
