I know that an otoplasty will make the ears look better, but does this also help improve hearing?
Otoplasty should not improve or hard your hearing.
But, it will offer significant confidence and self-esteem to all patients seeking this treatment.
I am a strong advocate of otoplasty.
I want a permanent fix for my "dumbo ears" (big and sticking out) because I'm sick of wearing hats to cover them up and it seems like otoplasty is my only option...but I am afraid I'll end up more self-conscious about my ears if there are scars there plus everyone will know I had ear surgery.
What I want to know is - Where do they cut into you during ear surgery and are the scars really noticeable?
Otoplasty is probably one the single best procedures that instills confidence and improves self-esteem in patients. The scars will not be noticeable.
I saw a patient last week who wore his hair shaved and had similar concerns. No one will see your incisions and you will be thrilled to have your ears fixed.
There is so much "teasing" that often goes on regarding protruding ears in patient early lives, that it is not unusual for patients to actually cry with excitement when they see there non-protruding ears.
I would encourage you strongly to proceed with the otoplasty.
