I want to know, how long after Smart Lipo is it safe to get pregnant?
there are no restrictions to pregnancy after smart lipo. as far as the results holding up through pregnancy, of course, this would depend on how much weight you gain, how big the baby is, etc. the only thing i can think of is asking your physician when it is ok to resume sexual activity. difference surgeons have different opinions on this. my feeling with smart lipo is that you can resume exercise in about 3 wks, sexual activity if you want to be careful after 1-2 weeks.
I had Smart Lipo two weeks ago. Although I didn't take measurements, I took many pictures to check the differences. Was that a huge mistake? Also, I cant tell if I am swollen. On one side, I can see a smoother area but on the other, I really do not. I am concerned that maybe they didn't get the right area, but I cannot tell because I cant determine where the swelling is. I really don't want to think that in 6 months, the swelling will be gone. When can I realistically see some sort of "after"?
i tell all of my liposuction patients, and especially my smart lipo patients, that the day after surgery, you will should see a big difference where fat was removed. however, a few days after that, swelling takes over, and you may not see much of a difference until the swelling resolves, which may take up to a few months. as far as knowing "where you were treated," i like to mark the areas to be treated prior to surgery and have the patient confirm that we are talking about the same areas. this is a very important part of the procedure as far as communication between doctor and patient.
I am seriously considering smart lipo on my abdomen area (muffin top) but after reading this forum i am concerned with the 'hardening' everyone seems to talk about after the procedure. Why does it happen and how long will it last? Also, many have said the area treated is very sensitive to the touch even months afterwards. Why is this and will it affect sexual relations?
people who tell you there is no swelling with smartlipo probably don't perform it. i think there is less bruising, but probably more swelling, at least in the immediate post-op period. the laser actually melts fat and heats skin, and the firmness is a healing response to this tissue damage. it is a normal part of healing and expected with smart lipo. this typically takes anywhere for 6 wks to 6 months to completely resolve.
