Is Microdermabrasion a Good Method for Treating Keratosis Pilaris?

I have tiny red bumps all over my torso and upper arms that seem to improve if I tan, but since I also have sensitive/fair skin I prefer to not have to rely on tanning.

A: Microdermabrasion for Keratosis Pilaris

Microdermabrasion cannot do much for Keratosis Pilaris inasmuch as the  scales are  too deep.

No good treatment exists for Keratosis Pilaris. However,  moisturizing the skin with a 20% Urea cream or a 40% Urea cream can provide good temporary "masking of the problem". Unfortunately, the day you stop applying this cream, the condition immediately reappears.

How Long Does a Microdermabrasion Session Take?

I had microdermabrasion (for acne scaring, oily skin, and clogged pores) for the first time. To my suprise, the microdermabrasion portion only lasted about 5 minutes, and the "facial" for the rest of the hour. Is that normal? How long does it usually take?

A: Microdermabrasion lasts 20 to 45 minutes

The larger areas will take a little longer. Vibraderm is an innovative new form of microdermabrasion that allows gently and efficiently covering larger areas such as the face, neck, even decollete and arms in a relatively short time.

Does Microdermabrasion Remove Pigmentation Marks on Black Skin?

I am fairly light skinned but i have developed some black marks below and on the sides of my eyes, the marks are very symetrical i.e they are exactly in the same places on both sides of my face. When i look in the mirror they are all i see and are affecting my self esteem, i need to have them removed. Will Microdermabrasion work for me?

A: Pigmentation tends to be much deeper than where microdermabrasion reaches.

Microdermabrasion only removes the superficial dead skin cells, leaving a smoother and more radiant appearance.

Pigmentation is usually much deeper, and isn't reached with this treatment. Your best option is to see your dermatologist to diagnose what exactly you are experiencing.
