I had Restylane for nasolabial lines about 6 months ago and ever since I have had acne breakouts constantly along those lines now with pretty constant redness as well.
The dermatologist did the 'ferning' technique so there were many many injections on each side. I have hormonal acne breakouts but had never had any problems in that area before. Is this a reaction to the Restylane or having so many injections in such a small area? It is extrememly frustrating and I am reluctant to have this again.
Neither Restylane, Juvederm, or other hyaluronic acid gel fillers should cause or aggravate acne, in my opinion. This side effect is not reported by the manufacturer to my knowledge. There are other options for fillers if you are reluctant to try this again. Discuss this with your physician in consultation.
Hi, I was wondering if Restylane would be use if I'm on medication (for IBD)? Thanks.
While it is safe to have Restylane injections while on an anti inflammatory medication, the so called NSAIDS carry an increased risk of bruising due to their platelet inhibitory effects. I recommend stopping these and substituting acetomenophen (tylenol) for example, about 10 days before injections.
How long does Restylan last for real? I had it once and it only lasted 2 months!
Restylane injections last 6 to 9 months on average but it also depends on the site and the volume of product injected. After the initial treatment results often last longer if one does not wait until all of the product has dissipated. Restylane and all HA fillers have a unique feature of being hydrophilic (attract extracellular water to the injection site) which helps prolong the correction or improvement.
