6 Weeks Post Op From Full Tummy Tuck with Lipo and Muscle Repair, Normal To Feel Pain on One Side?

hi i am 6 weeks post op from full tummy tuck with lipo muscle repair and breast uplift ,at the moment i am suffering from a real bad pain only on one side of my abdomen ,it feels like it is internal bruising ,is this normal there is no extra swelling and all scars are healing amazingly i went back to work (childrens entertainer )on day 15 and also have a two year old who i started lifting again after two weeks ,i just need advice as to whether this is to be expected cheers

A: Acceptable pain after tummy tuck

I am sorry about the pain you are experiencing.  This sort of pain at this time period is not unusual.  I would guess that approximately 5-10% of my patients experience such discomfort.  The good news is that 99.99% resolve after a period of time.  The most important action is a physical exam by your plastic surgeon to assure that you don't have a hernia.  Otherwise, treat the pain symptomatically with ice/heat (not directly on your skin) and anti-inflammatory medications.

What Should I Possibly Expect For My Tummy Tuck Results If I Keep Losing Weight? (photo)

I am 26 yrs old & have had 2 C-sections. I'm 5'4" exactly, 185lbs & have a good amount of muscle from working out throughout my life. Since I had my babies, I found that I can lose weight everywhere BUT my 'fat roll' that hangs over like a flap of skin. I have continued to lose weight and will continue even after my TT. I was 145lbs at my comfortable weight and would like to eventually get there. My question is, what can I expect to have after my TT now & later if I do lose more?

A: Weight loss and tummy tuck

You should try to achieve your ideal weight prior to your tummy tuck to obtain the  best result from the procedure.  If you do not, you may need additional skin excision with the further weight loss.  Donald R. Nunn MD  Atlanta Plastic Surgeon.

12 Days After TT and Belly Button is Looking a Little Gray Inside. Is This Normal? (photo)

It is looking better since last week (using bacitracin) and less irritated looking. No drainage, just the bleeding and scabs, and no foul smell. Will the inside pink up with time or is the color a sign of my BB not healing properly?

A: Belly buttons usually heal very well

I think your belly button should be fine.  Sometimes the "gray" can result from lack or low blood flow to it, but even if it doesnt get any blood, the resulting scared belly button will look just fine.  Of course, I also encourage you to contact your plastic surgeon with any concerns immediatly.
