I have had my implants for over 23 years with no problems. They were inserted under the pectorial muscles.
If you have no hardening, volume change, or position problem, then I do not recommend routine implant exchange - esp for saline. Saline implants will let you know when they leak - you will get a noticeable volume difference as the saline is absorbed
Hello Doctors I have a question? I had gel silicon breast implants put in 26yrs ago under the armpit behind the muscle I want to take them out can I have them remover under the breast instead of the armpit? don't want to have the armpit muscles cut again I opt for under the breast removal is this possible? Thank you Doctors for your time...
Not only is it possible to get the implants removed through another incision, it is actually better. The incision around the nipple or under the breast will allow better visualization of the pocket and implant and will allow for better cleaning of the pocket if the implants have leaked. Good Luck!
I had silicon implants put in via the armpit. The left implant was 2.00 cc and the right was 2.25 because the right breast was smaller than the left breast originally. The left implant is now larger than the right and should have been 1.75 or 1.50 cc. Can the silcone implant be removed through the same incision via the arm pit? Can the gel be drained prior to removal? If not, what incision is the least invasive. Please help.
Gel cannot be drained prior to removal. If you are having a straight forward exchange of implants, then this can be accomplished through the armpit incision. Removal of ruptured implants or significant pocket revision is more difficult and I would recommend the periareolar or inframammary incision.
