The target area is upper lip and underarm. Light sheer diode or Gentlelase Alexandrite? Thank you
Hi Latte. We see that you do not really need our help! You have identified 2 excellent lasers for your skin and hair type.
Although the Yag laser that was suggested works well for darker skin types and very coarse hair, it will not work well for you. The Lumenis Lightsheer and Gentlelase Alex are both great options.
The Alexandrite lasers will have a slightly higher incidence of side effect like blisters, but can also help you finish your program in 1 or 2 less treatments. If safety is your highest priority, go with the Diode. If less treatments is your priority, then the Alex might be better. Either way, choose a practitioner that is very experienced with your skin type. Good luck.
After my 4th Laser Hair Removal session for underarms, I noticed that there were alot more red dots /appearance of scabs than what I had experienced in the previous 3 treatments. Prior to this session I had very clean results for underarms; without any marks or redness. I'm concerned because I have my final treatment in 4weeks and I don't want to make it worse or encourage scarring as I have olive skintone. When will this heal properly, if at all? Should I cancel the 5th laser session?
Hi Kiki. If this photo was taken within an hour or two after the treatment we would not be that concerned. "Follicular edema" or redness around the hair follicles is normal immediately after treatment. It would be much more unusual if it was several days after the treatment when the photo was taken.
If you continue to have these concerns you are best served to return to those that did you treatment to discuss it with them. Good luck.
iam dark skin(indian) and had many laser hair removal treatments with cynosure(yag) and candela(yag). Over two years iam not getting any closer its seems my hair are getting coarser, iam very concern. Should i continue with the laser treatments or just go back to shaving.
Hi Love all. No you should not give up but you should change providers. We treat up to dark skin type IV, including East Indians using a Lumenis Lightsheer Diode laser. It is the most common laser hair removal device in the world.
While we also use a long pulsed yag laser like the one you referenced, Indians can be treated on either type. If you are not getting permanent hair removal with the yag laser you should switch practitioners to a practice that uses diode lasers for your skin type. No need to give up yet. Check the before and after pictures at the link below - we treat all skin types successfully.
