I had laser surgery about 3 years ago, and I am afraid I am losing vision again in my left eye. what should I do?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
The best thing to do is return to your surgeon for a full evaluation. It can be anything from a simple issue to something more involved, but in any case routine eye care is necessary to ensure that your vision is performing at optimal levels.

I've Had Laser Eye Surg And Have Terrible Starbursts. Can Lasers Correct A Wider Parameter, Or Bifocal Lenses For Night Driving?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

The first thing to do is talk with your surgeon about your problems. Ask if you have had a custom wavefront guided procedure. Occasionally if the first procedure is not a custom wavefront guided procedure, this type of laser can help night driving issues.

If your initial procedure was with a custom wavefront guided laser, then you may have to work with your eye doctor on other solutions.

I Am 50 Interested in Intralase Eye Laser Surgery, Should I Be Hesitant Since I Have Dry Eyes?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

This is an excellent question.  Dry eye is something we watch closely for before LASIK surgery and if found we will treat it aggressively until we feel it is stable enough for LASIK.  Uncontrolled dry eye is usually a contra-indication to eye surgery.  Anyone with pre-existing dry eye should also be treated for an extended period of time after LASIK.  The use of a LASER to create the corneal flap should also lessen the risk of post operative dry eye compared to use of a blade.

If both of your eyes are corrected for distance, you should have excellent vision but require reading glasses up close because of your age.

Risks of Cataract Surgery for an Eldery Person Aged 70 Years?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Cataract surgery is safer and more effective than ever before. The success rate is extremely high. The equipment used to remove cataracts has steadily improved over the years. In fact, I had the opportunity to be the second surgeon in the US to remove cataracts using a femtosecond laser. I'm not prepared to say that this new technology is superior as of yet, but we are gathering data and if it truly is safer and more effective than the excellent methods we have currently, laser assisted cataract removal will become prevalent.

Will I Have Hazy Vision After Lasik?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Your vision will be slightly foggy for the remainder of the day after you have LASIK surgery. By the time you wake up the next morning, you should notice considerably better vision, usually in the range of 20/20. It is not uncommon for your night vision to be reduced for several nights before improving after LASIK surgery.

How Much Does Laser Eye Surgery Cost?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Laser eye surgery costs can vary greatly from one surgeon to another. Some of this is based upon the technology used. Older, less sophisticated lasers might be less expensive. Some surgeons offer a more personalized approach while others run a high volume clinic. The important thing to remember is that laser eye surgery affects one of the most important things in your life, your vision. You’d never look for discount brain or heart surgery. Don’t skimp on your vision.

Generally you get what you pay for with LASIK surgery, and you can expect to spend anywhere from $4500 to $6000 for a reputable surgeon using the latest technology.

LASIK is very commonly performed after cataract surgery to improve vision. It is generally regarded as safe, but slightly longer healing times may be encountered based on your age and general corneal health.

What are the typical complications and side effects of LASIK?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Most LASIK side effects are rare and not serious. Like any surgery, there are inherent risks, but LASIK is generally regarded as one or the safest surgeries available.
Typical side effects include temporarily reduced night vision and dry eye.

Serious but rare side effects include infection, distorted vision, and complications with the flap. Listing all the possible side effects of any procedure is almost impossible, so you should address any specific concerns with your doctor.

Unsatisfactory PRK Results - What went wrong? Does this mean my left eye will need an enhancement? Is this normal?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Healing times vary greatly with PRK surgery. They can range from weeks to months. Some of the healing time will vary based on your age, how much correction was applied the amount of astigmatism corrected, history of previous surgeries, and general corneal health. Its time to discuss this with your doctor since an exam is needed to determine what is going on.

Nothing necessary went wrong, and it is far too early to consider whether you need an enhancement. Have patience, in certain cases it can take months for vision to reach its final endpoint after PRK. I have seen many cases just like yours turn out perfectly.
