I had an excellent experience! The staff is incredibly friendly and very attentive! The only issue I had was a small ceiling leak in my room. However I was moved into another room (might I add more comfortable too) very quickly. Dr. Illan was amazing and helped to put my mind at ease because I was so nervous. The valets we so kind and helpful. Beto (Roberto) was especially comforting and made sure I felt as safe as possible being a solo traveler. I also loved to work with a couple other valet’s Joe and Alex as well. Overall great experience! I definitely recommend Dr Illan for this life changing procedure!
Dr. Ilhan is the Best Gastric Surgeon! I’m 8 weeks post op, I lost so far 20 lbs. After a thorough research, I decided that Dr. Ilhan will be my choice for the gastric sleeve gastrectomy. From the beginning of the consultation (I reside in Atlanta, GA),all the questions I had about pretty much everything, from surgery to travel were answered by Henry (thank you Henry for putting up with me!) and the rest of the coordinators. I traveled alone, but I had confidence that I will be in good hands. From the arrival in San Diego and being picked up by the driver, to checking into the hospital, pre op medical check ups. Before the surgery Dr. Ilhan came to visit me and wanted to know if I had any questions or concerns about the surgery. The surgery went well, no complications. State of the art hospital, the staff was professional and everyone speaks English. The after care was amazing, no problems nor complications, the incisions healed well. There’s a certified nutritionist, the amazing Stacy Eckel who will guide and help you with the diet and new life style. She answered my emails right away and after I got back home to the US she even called me from her personal phone to make sure I was doing well. That spoke volumes to me about the professionalism, care and dedication everyone has for their patients. I highly recommend Dr. Ilhan and his staff from Hospital BC!
When I started my research for Dr's to get my sleeve I decided to join a Bariatric Surgery group on Facebook. I had asked if anyone had gone to TJ to get surgery and with who. Dr. illan's name kept popping up. I actually had another Dr in Mexicali in mind however they kept canceling and I took that as a sign to continue looking. So I looked in to Dr. illan and saw nothing but great reviews and experiences. I did their questionnaire in June on their website and within days I got a call back from Pablo to schedule surgery. I will say I was hesitant because I really wanted to meet the doctor but I felt comfortable so I booked. I was scheduled for Sept. 23rd. They accommodated me and moved me up to Sept. 9th. I was really pleased with that. Throughout the whole time leading up to my surgery they emailed me often with instructions and the nutritionist. Any question I had and called they answered me promptly! I was traveling from California to TJ so I wasn't very far and were able to pick me up from the CBX in Otay, CA and crossed me over. It was a really smooth transition to cross and same thing to cross back to the US. The morning of my surgery i got there at 7am. I filled out paperwork and got blood work done, x rays done and checked into my hospital room. Everything was done in a timely manner and the staff was amazing! Almost everyone spoke english so language isn't a barrier for those that don't know Spanish. I know Spanish so it wasn't a big problem. Everything was really clean which was a biggie for me. Their rooms are spacious and since Covid there aren't shared rooms. I went i to surgery at around 2:45pm. They also gave me something to calm my nerves which was nice lol. I got into my room at about 5pm from what I remember. I wasn't in pain but definitely some discomfort. Not to mentioned I arrived by myself and went through surgery by myself. My husband didn't arrive until 6pm. The most discomfort I had was from the anthesia I felt nauseous and dizzy but the next day I was fine. Definitely WALK WALK WALK. It makes a difference so the gas can leave your body. I was nauseous for the first 2 days but after the 3rd I was good. Overall my experience with Dr. Illan was great. If you are thinking of getting the gastric sleeve look no further and go with Dr. Illan.
238lbs-137lbs. In 6 months with gastric sleeve Before surgery divorce food and adapt to a new lifestyle with complete changes to your activity level and food intake. Maintaining weight loss 6 yrs later. Dr. Illan and the staff are amazing. Thank you so very much!
I can not say enough good things about Dr. Jalil Illan and Hospital BC in Tijuana. Dr. Illan is an amazing surgeon and he is also so friendly and he made me feel very comfortable. I was so happy with the care I received, it was far above any hospital experience I have ever had. My MGB surgery was October 2019 and I have not had any complications or issues post-op. Dr. Illan truly saved my life, I’ve lost over a hundred pounds and have a normal BMI now.
Thank You Dr. Illan and Staff for the Amazing care you gave to me and for tolerating my husband and his big appetite lol. Seeing great results. Un millon de gracias . Dios les bendiga . Wish inhad done this sooner.. #VSG
I had my surgery done on 10/1/19. I was nervous when I got to San Diego, but the valet made me feel like I was home, using an Uber! It was a swift trip acrossed the border to the Hospital. From check in to check out, I was treated like royalty. All the hospital staff introduced themselves, and were very courteous.
Dr. Illan and his staff were and continue to be so amazing!! My stay, was amazing! Not only was my every need cared for but so was my husbands! Im 7months post-op and his staff is still willing to help with any questions I have! I definitely will continue to reccomend 100%
I was sleeved on October 5, 2018. Best decision I’ve made for myself. I’ve one of those people who have tried many different diets and fads and it seems to work but then I’ll binge back. It took me a while to come to this decision because I knew it was a very serious surgery especially making the choice in Tijuana. At the end of the day, I was happy with my choice with Dr. Illan. It was a clean facility and the nurses were all so kind and helpful. The recovery was easy and painless. I had my sister who came with me and she was very skeptical of everything but she was surprised at how the clinic operates and how clean the place was. The clinic gives you a copy of the surgery which is good to have on hand. They take you and your companion out to the town to have some fun. Once everything was done, they drove us across the border where my sister and I stayed in San Diego for another 2 days to explore. I was able to do everything but just at a slower rate. This is not an answer fast weight lose. You have to continue to eat healthy and workout. I’ve lost around 80 LBS to date. I’ve maintain a somewhat healthy diet (everything is in moderation) and In the beginning I worked out 3 times a week at the gym (walking, strength training). I’m at a point in my journey where I have that last 15 LBS to go. I’m currently enrolled in F45 and Orange Theory to help me loose that last few pounds. I do not regret this decision, it basically saved me and gave me so much confidence (something I never really had). This is not for everyone. Do your research and do some more. I understood the risk and choose to take it. It worked me for so I’m thankful. This post is a bit long and over due but I figured I’d give it a year to give my full review of the doctor and the surgery itself. STATS SW: 238 LBS CW: 158 LBS HIEGHT: 5’6 Feet Updated on 18 Dec 2019: Some before and after pictures! I didn’t realize the first one cut off... feel free to ask any questions!
Simply awesome . Awesome Dr and staff. It has been life changing ! Made me feel completely uncomfortable and relaxed , and answered any and all questions. Even after being home the nutritionist was always very prompt and helpful if I had any questions. I will be back for plastic surgery!!
No, A hiatal hernia can develop in people of all ages and both sexes, although it frequently occurs in people age 50 and older. Hiatal hernia occurs more often in overweight people and smokers. The most common cause of a hiatal hernia is an increase in pressure in the abdominal cavity. (The abdomen consists of the lower part of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, rectum, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, and bladder.) Pressure can come from coughing, vomiting, straining during a bowel movement, heavy lifting, or physical strain. Pregnancy, obesity, or extra fluid in the abdomen can also lead to a hiatal hernia. A common complication of the Lap Band is GERD. Acid reflux can be triggered by a tight band. This causes a problem. When the band is tightened it may trigger acid reflux. When its loosened, the reflux goes away but there isn’t enough restriction to cause appropriate weight loss.
You are a perfect candidate for weight loss surgery, I will highly recommend the sleeve Gastrectomy instead!!
Yes it's a possibility, I would highly recommend a routine check up (endoscopy and/or X-ray swallow test).
Please contact your surgeon office, your symptoms suggest that your band has slipped. Best thing to do is to evaluate the band, such as with x-ray ('water soluble contrast swallow') or endoscopy (EGD).
Your BMI is 36.5 plus DM and Hypertension makes you a perfect candidate for WLS. You will benefit dramatically.
